We are glad we found this place across the street from Dante's house. It's a hole in the wall, but totally worth finding. We absolutely loved this place. My wife ordered the #1, I had the #18. The charcuterie was beautifully made, and the combinations were interestingly good. We ordered a tripe sandwich to see what the fuss was about,... More

Please make sure you go there when visiting Dante's house, this super tiny place is a true hidden gem! The take-away food is basic but simply outstanding. Don't miss the coccoli with truffle, they are to die for.

My daughter who studied in Florence said it is a must try when in town. Bread is baked fresh daily and service is warm and pretty efficient. We had different sandwiches and they were all very good! About €4 per.

Highly recommended and friendly They offered me gluten free pasta and was worried they would try and charge me but they didn't. Honest and great vino dela casa - I will be back

We have been here several times in the last 4 years. It is simply outstanding and utterly characteristic of Florence. The food and wine are delicious. And it's most welcoming.

I went there twice for lunch and it was both times delicious! I had sandwiches with schettino cheese with prosciutto one time and the second time schettino with lonzino. The bred is warm and you will surely be full until dinner! Also try the fried coccoli, which are filled with sausage or truffle cream.

Having read about Florence's taste for tripe I ordered a panino (a round white roll) of trippa alla Fiorentina. This place is a serving hatch joined to a small deli just along the same side street as the Dante museum. The top of the roll is sliced off, soft inner bread removed to create an edible bowl and filled with... More

Tiny sandwich bar by the Dante museum. On the basis of a previous reviewer I had the number 5: ham, pate and artichoke paste and it was excellent. Be warned though the bread is seriously crunchy and you need a good set of teeth!

Staying in Duomo

Neighbourhood Profile
Florentia, as it was called by Latins, is permeated by an eternal beauty spread in all corners of the city. The historic center is characterized by the immensity of the Duomo, able to transport tourists into the brightest age of Florence: the Renaissance. Who does not know the Brunelleschi Dome, San Giovanni Baptistery and the Giotto’s Campanile? Everything is enclosed here and it would be easy to imagine the city as it was in ancient times, with maids walking in the main square and horses carrying coaches. Nowadays, roads are busy with street artists. Rustic Tuscan bakeries give way to fashion shops; just stop for a few minutes in the middle of Piazza della Repubblica to enjoy the colors and sweet melody of the carousel that will bring back great memories from anyone’s childhood.
