Had we not been staying at the hotel where this restaurant is, we may have never discovered it - and we are so happy we did! The white bean soup with truffle oil (can't remember the name) was to die for! Freshest prosciutto and mozzarella I ever had was during breakfast which was included in the hotel rate. The pasta... My husband and I had a wonderful lunch at Il Desco Bistro. We sat in the courtyard in the back of the restaurant which was shaded and pleasant. I had a silky bean soup and herbs in sour sauce which doesn't sound too appetizing, but it was a revelation and simply delicious. The herb didn't have an English translation, but... More

We ate upon arrival at Desco Bistro while staying at the Il Guelfo hotel, near the McDonalds and the Academia. Its a small place with a lot of character. This is our second stay at the hotel and dining at Il Desco. It might be a couple euros higher but very good quality food. A true farm to table, organic... More

My wife and I had a lovely meal that we likely ate too fast but enjoyed very much. I started with an antipasti of mozzarella, prosciutto, and tomato. The mozzarella was especially tasty, and I pretty much always order this type of starter. My wife had the spinach and sheep's cheese flan and we both thought it was delicious. For... More

Dear 0Miss, the special pasta dish was fresh spaghetti pasta (chitarra) in a light potato cream with cod fish and olives. The origins of "Pasta and potates" can be found back in a poorer, farming Italy, in particular if you go to Napoli you still find it in many restaurants. Yesterday for our customers we enriched the recipe with fish... More

Great place. Simple food, good prices, excellent service. Went there the first time and I had to go another one. Not much variety of dishes, but all of them very good. Go for lunch and you will also have gluten free pasta.

I ate a 4 course meal on Easter at Il Desco. Soooooooo freaking good! I highly recommend everyone to eat here! But I also highly recommend for everyone to check their receipts before they leave. After I had completed the meal and a bottle of wine...lol...I was brought a receipt for 61 euros. I removed my credit card and gave... More

Amazing little restaurant, central and very reasonably priced. The food was delicious and some of the ingredients are from their organic farm. Lovely cool space outside the back with trees growing.

Don't miss Il Desco Bistro! We lucked out that it was attached to our hotel and the service and the food were spectacular. The menu was also very interesting and has several vegetarian and gluten free options. This is a must visit.

Description
We are located in the historic center of Florence, between Piazza del Duomo and San Marco and we offer a simple and tasty cuisine, made with the freshest ingredients of the highest quality. We owned a small farm in Reggello that provides us vegetables, fruit and extra virgin olive oil certified organic by ICEA. For this reason our menu is seasonal and changes every three months according to the production of the garden. The focus is on offer vegetarian dishes and great attention is paid to the Gluten Free offer, almost everything on the menu is suitable for people with celiac disease! Limited offer of meat, but always available in most traditional recipes:)

Staying in Duomo

Neighbourhood Profile
Duomo
Florentia, as it was called by Latins, is permeated by an eternal beauty spread in all corners of the city. The historic center is characterized by the immensity of the Duomo, able to transport tourists into the brightest age of Florence: the Renaissance. Who does not know the Brunelleschi Dome, San Giovanni Baptistery and the Giotto’s Campanile? Everything is enclosed here and it would be easy to imagine the city as it was in ancient times, with maids walking in the main square and horses carrying coaches. Nowadays, roads are busy with street artists. Rustic Tuscan bakeries give way to fashion shops; just stop for a few minutes in the middle of Piazza della Repubblica to enjoy the colors and sweet melody of the carousel that will bring back great memories from anyone’s childhood.
