My partner and I visited on our last night in Florence.
Our host was so sweet and kind, he really did everything to make our experience perfect.
We had a monstrous steak with plenty of side dishes and a brilliant red recommended by the host. Overall I couldn’t fault anything, the food, service and attention to detail was superb!
Our host also gave us a lovely small bottle of wine as a gift to take home which just made it even more beautiful.
We’ve loved our time here, the people, food and atmosphere has just been so amazing that we’re struggling to leave!

We went to this place after it was featured on Food Insider. Expectations were quite high and while the Chianina did meet up to the expectation the Black Angus was frankly skippable. Hence, this review is based on my experience for the Chianina and the pastas that we ordered.
The pastas were splendid flavourful and full of punch.
I am not a huge fan of steak served on hot stone but if that is something one likes then surely try this place. Steaks aren’t that cheap starting at €70 per kg and each Florentine cut is about 1.2 kg.
The place is popular among tourists so booking in advance is highly recommended, they have another place near the station so do keep that in view while making reservation as a number of guests were returned as reservation for a different branch.

It is open whole day, which is great. Menu choice is fairly large, all directions, pleasantly decorated with wein bottles all over...
Wein prices, however, are too high, higher than in Switzerland. Especially weins from Toscana, which is crazy.

We waited 15 minutes to be served after we sat, then after that i asked them if i can order this food (attached photo). Then the waiter told me that food is a gift for all guests. But guess what we didnt get it even until our last meal. Seems like they only give those gift meal to white people from what ive seen since i sat down til i finished my dinner.

First of all I would like to wish anyone who is reading this review a Happy Health, & Prosperous, New Year.
It troubles me that I have to take time on my last day in Florence Italy to write this review. But i feel it’s my duty to my fellow travelers. With that being said….
My wife made reservations for five “2 adults 2 teenagers & a baby” 3 days prior to today January 3rd 2022 at Trattoria Osteria Dall'Oste SMN. The address to this location is Via Luigi Alamanni, 3, 50123 Florence. My wife, kids, and I arrived at this location excited to be having dinner on our last night because we have heard great things about this restaurant. When we arrived we were greeted by a young lady who asked my wife if we had made reservations. My wife replied yes we made reservations. The young lady asked could my wife show her our reservations. My wife pulled out her phone and showed the young lady that indeed we made reservations. The young lady didn’t seem very welcoming even though we had proof of our reservations.
She replied thank you and proceeded to have a gentleman escort us to our seats. We all took off our jackets excited to eat and was preparing to sit down. The server then proceeded to tell us where we could or could not place our baby as we were settling in to take him out of the stroller. Not even asking if we wanted a baby high chair. The manager then approached us and said… “unfortunately our credit card system is down and that you can only eat here if you pay in cash.” My response to him was that’s odd especially that there’s around 15 to 20 people who were seated and more were waiting outside to be seated. He said I’m sorry but it’s down. My reply to him was theres no way as a foreigner I will carry more than $400 in euros on me for safety reasons. Mind you the area is very sketchy. It’s next to a train station and there were a couple of people who seem to to be just hanging around outside.
I flat out told him I felt awkward about the situation and will write a review about what happened. When I mentioned that I was going to write a review the manager said… “wait wait wait hold on let me see if I can resolve the situation.” At that point my wife and kids looked at me and said that we did not feel comfortable eating there and said let’s look for another place. As we started to grab our belongings and proceeded to leave, the “owner” of the establishment asked us what’s wrong. I explained to him what happened and we are from Los Angeles CA and have never received this sort of treatment. Especially since we booked dinner reservations. At that point I told him we are no longer interested in eating there and I can insure him I will write a review on this situation.
My goal here is not to tear down this chain in no shape form or fashion. As mentioned earlier I just want my fellow travelers to have an idea what might happen if you decided to book at this location.

Food came very slowly and was cooked incorrectly. Bread was bland and tasteless and even the basket took 20 minutes to arrive. They forgot my wife’s drink and we had to chase them to replace it. The restaurant itself is nice and right next to the main train station.

This restaurant was really nice. We spotted it during a walking tour when we first got to Florence and decided to make it our last supper there. This place was fancy and expensive but you do pay for what you get. I personally had the florentine 1.2kg steak to myself and it was delicious. The service could improve but our biggest issue was my wife's pasta was very underwhelming and with no flavour. I guess you should get steak at a steakhouse lol.

Right across the street from the Firenze train station is Trattoria dall'Oste. I was told that people actually will take a train from various cities across Italy to have a Tuscan Steak here. I believe them!
I only review restaurants that serve steak and various cuts of beef and I must state that this one, is in the top three.
My wife had a Filet Mignon that ws 500g and the Tuscan Steak (T-Bone), that I devoured must ahve been at least 2lbs.
Both were cooked to perfection, the service was outstanding and the dessert to die for (chocolate lava cake).
If you love beef like I do, make it a point to go there and enjoy the best beef in Europe.

The 3 stars is purely for the wonderful piece of meat that lived up to the expectation of the restaurant’s reputation as a steak house. Everything else however is sub-standard, especially the service. Expect to pay at least 100 euro for a piece of meat for 2, which is a fair price for a delicious, well marbled and well bred meat, but if you are hoping to get a service to match, then try somewhere else.
This place is drunk on its own reputation and believes it can continue to run purely by the strength of their kitchen. Waiters have an attitude that you owe them for a chance to dine at their premises, the wine list whilst fairly comprehensive is 50% more than other restaurants and most of the wines are unavailable, they only sell you the ones they believe they can make a margin on.
You can feel that you are being ripped off from the moment you enter. Florence has many wonderful restaurants with service that will make your visit memorable, give this one a miss and support other honest local businesses.

We went here for our first dinner in Florence so of course we ordered a traditional bistecca alla fiorentina. The meat cuts on display were marvelous, a meatlovers dream. The steak was perfectly cooked and the dish came extremely fast. Our waitress Vanessa was very friendly and attentive. I highly recommed downloading The Fork app because they offer up to 40% discounts on your check so it is definetely worth it.

Lots of hype and expectation for Trattoria dall'Oste. I am glad that it lived up to it.
The Chianina looks lean and goes against the normal wisdom of more marbling is better, reality is that it has one of the most flavorful and most tender piece of steak I have ever tried. It doesn't taste like normal ribeye, NY, filet, and not even normal t-bone. You just have to try it.
We also go against normal recommendation and ordered the seafood risotto. It is also one of the most flavorful with tons of seafood flavorful. Highly recommend if you have a large enough party to down that as well as the 1.6kg bistecca.
On top of that, service was excellent and professional unlike many other restaurants we have been to in Italy.
Highly recommended.

We booked a table for Oct. 14 at 8 p.m. on The Fork app as we often do. We were right on time but were confronted by a lady sitting at her computer who was extremely rude. This was compounded when we were told very brusquely that there was no reduction on the menu (which we knew from the app. and from past experience--it is standard). We have never encountered such rudeness in Italy. We walked off after telling the lady that she had been very unpleasant. To cover her traces she told The Fork the restaurant could not accept our reservation at 20:08 as the fork emailed us saying they were looking into it.
By the way the restaurant was half empty.

We were in Florence for 3 nights and heard about Florentine Steak. after numerous research, we decided to try this place out. We were seated early, somehow 3 different servers came around. We placed our order for Florentine Steak and a Calamari/Prawn dish. The appetizers that came with the steak came - the portion was huge. Think of Texas portions. Anyways, we finished eating what we wanted. Steak took another 30-40 minutes. While waiting, we noticed some silverware fall on the floor as the server was resetting a table next to us. He picked up the knife and put it on the table as if nothing happened. Perhaps the 5 second rule applies? Anyhow, our steak arrived. We asked for it to be medium and reiterated this with the server. It came out raw. We asked for it to be sent back and cooked a little more. It took another 20 minutes. At this time it was 10:15 PM and knew that we had to leave and just eat elsewhere. We were approached and asked if everything was fine, we just said we had to leave since the food was taking so long. As we were paying, the servers were talking bad about us in Italian not knowing my husband speaks Italian. So we answered them back in Italian and they were stunned. If you are considering this place for dinner, don’t. Best spend your money in an authentic, Italian/Tuscan restaurant.

My family and I was really looking forward to coming here for dinner and we walked 12 minutes from our hotel. I made the reservation for 6:00 pm the night before. When we arrived , we was told it was canceled because they didn’t open until 6:30 pm. The manager told us that we could book again but I won’t receive the 30% discount anymore for a 6:30 reservation. What the hell?! They own website still shows 3:30 pm to 6:00 pm as open for dinner tomorrow with 30% discount. It’s one thing to tell us that they moved our reservation to 6:30 and apologize for their poor web management but certainly felt like we’re being punished for their mistake because now we don’t get the discount? Anyway , decided to eat at the nice little Chinese restaurant that served fresh made dumplings down the block. Avoid this place because it’s tourist trap and tricked unsuspecting tourist to overspend on their steak. Only reason I knew about it was from strictly dumpling YouTube video which was most likely paid advertisement.

Yes the meat is good and abundant and the affettati misti equally good and abundant. In fact too abundant so it’s just too much. But the service!!! You really can’t spend less than about ONE HUNDRED EUROS for two people. The place is really nice and looks good. But: we waited AGES for our main dish as « there was a problem with the printer in the kitchen!!! » and then when the meat arrived, a third of the potatoes were part raw (clearly they had added more potatoes which hadn’t cooked), then the hot piastra that you use to grill your meat was promised to us but they forgot! so it only arrived (because we asked) at the very end of the meal. The wine was not very nice. The food was just too much but you can’t really order less.
All in all we felt forgotten by the waiters who were in good number and busy chatting or doing something else. Felt rubbish for what was supposed to be a nice and certainly rather expensive evening.
