The best meal we had in Italy, so far! I ordered from the chef's recommended menu, my two teens ordered pasta. Everything was beyond our expectations. The bill was a pleasant surprise - €72 for three people, including desert. I have paid much more for much less. Great place! Highly recommend.

Really good food and nice service. They recommend us the pasta with truffle and then sliced entrecontte. We asked for a tiramissu that was incredible. They also give you complimentary limoncello. It is not expensive and it is also full of local people

The restaurant means for the poor 100. Its a little restaurant tucked away in a corner about a 15-20 minute walk from the Ponte Vecchio. The ambience is unassuming but has a delectable feel of a traditional trattoria. The menu has quite choice however we didnt venture into anything adventurous but Pizza and Pasta as we were travelling with kids.... More

Excellent food and not overly expensive. Can be quite crowded, it's a very small place. Both the pizza and the standard dishes are very good.

We arrived sometime after 1pm on a weekday without reservation. There were a lot of locals waiting as well but the guy at the desk took our name and we were seated within 10 minutes. 10€ for a starter, main, a bottle of water and wine. Add 3€ for a dessert or 1€ for a coffee. Food is good for... More

This was a very interest restaurant. The food was excellent. I can recommend the linguini with clams and the pizzas were also very good.

Whilst pleasant in its interior, impersonal, slightly offish service and the feeling of a conveyor-belt approach to food meant that our experience was of being just another couple of covers to be processed. Not a great Florentine experience.

This restaurant is a bit outside the citycentre and offers more or less what you (can) expect from a Tuscan osteria. Quite big (you will be nearly always able to find a table), attentive staff, service ok.

Eating out in Florence can be expensive affair, especially if you are after your classic Florentine Steak. This restaurant is a very good value for money - we went for a fixed menu at EUR 28 per person and totally enjoyed our cold meats and cheese for starters, 1 kg of the Florentine steak with roasted potatoes and chestnut cake,... This place is amazing. Full of locals, I knew we were in for a treat the moment we went through the door. Ditto! Don't miss the pork ribs! Three plates were more than enough for 4 people (2 kids). Very reasonably priced at euro 9.50 each. I intend to return for pasta.

Thank Mariano A

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
