If you find this review useful, give it a Helpful vote & follow us as we discover more of the world ... No frills restaurant serving very fresh, local seafood. The wait staff was a little brusque at the beginning but warmed up eventually. We...did show up a few minutes earlier than our reservation at 7:30 PM & they couldn't seat us as they were setting up. The stand out dishes were the octopus & simply grilled fish. So good, we ended up ordering seconds. The price was very reasonable for the quality & the quantity being served. There is indoor & outdoor seating available. My recommendation is to sit outdoors - you can enjoy people watching while having your dinner. Just be forewarned that they seat smokers outdoors & the crowd does seem to enjoy their cigarettes before & after the meal.More

Service terrible, one of the worst in my life. Food nothing special. Many dishes from the menu missing. Wine list very bad. Terrible noise inside the room.

Been at this place, at least twice a year for the last 50 years. Last night, a huge disappointment. While the quality of the food remains excellent, I (and other patrons) witnessed a verbal assault by three mobs against a customer who had dared ask...them not to speak too loud. The verbal assault was highly offensive considering it was carried out against an elderly gentleman in the company of a lady. Worse, the mob were not asked to leave. The way I see it, at this point food’s quality takes a backseat and I am inclined not to show up at Lillicu or to recommend it to friends and family anymore. What a shame!More

Countless times I ate in this unpretentious venue, with the deepest flavours of my town. My father used to bring me and my brothers since a long time. Last time I came with him and my family and he enjoyed the usual glamour though missing...waiter Efisio, by now not anymore among us. Food is perfect as usual, based on quality of ingredients. Umbelievable red grouper, this time. Alberto hosted us, with his usual professional way and giving us a final not negligible discount. I am sure we will stay in touch.More

A friend from Cagliari now living in England highly recommended this restaurant to us and it didn’t disappoint. The menu is mainly seafood based with a good choice of dishes. Really great prices too considering we were in the heart of the city. Both food...and wine were delicious and service was excellent too. I saw later on that the restaurant is listed in my Rough Guide to Cagliari and so it should be. I recommend the octopus starter!More

Apparently it's well-known among locals and indeed it's always full - over the summer, you need to book in advance if you don't want to end up having dinner at 10pm. The restaurant itself is basic but food is excellent, which is typical in Italy!...Beware of fancy places unless someone you trust recommended them to you. My friend and I only ordered the antipasto di mare and fried squids: more than enough! Nothing to say really except for go there if you want to eat real sea food. Also, prices are very reasonable. I know many foreigner might complain about the service but Italy is not the UK nor the US so just take it for what it is and enjoy the foodMore

Very good restaurant, my absolute favourite in Italy so far! A lot of locals do eat here. Good service, very good food! Tip: Don't try to reserve via the website, but call them!

Came here for a delicious lunch! We did have to wait a bit for a table - maybe 20 minutes - the service was quite slow and they weren’t in a rush to clean and seat new customers. Other than that, the food was great...- cozze in a red sauce & spaghetti con arselle. The fregola looked amazing - would love to try another time. Tried returning for dinner the next night but the wait time was over 30 minutes. Would recommend!More

Italian friends booked this restaurant for us. No problem with the booking. Food was nice and fresh. Service slow, however, when we asked for the bill the waiter was quick enough to let us know that even though we had 2 jugs of wine he was...kind enough to charge us for one. When we checked the bill there were charges for two extra dishes adding 30 euros more. Waiter apologised and brought the correct bill but we left disapointed and won't be returning when we come back to Cagliari. My instinct tells me they won't care.More

Especially if not Italian you can wait a lot. Kinda expensive (menu : 35e) even "a la carta". Good food tho.

We visited this restaurant as it was highly recommended by locals however our experience was terrible. Service was below any standards, in fact I can’t even call it a “service”. Waiter was rude, refused to bring ice to cool down white wine. We ordered 3...different types of fishes and all got wrong orders! When we said it is not what we ordered, waiter started shouting that he has everything written down and it is impossible to cook fish in a way we ask (we didn’t ask for anything special, but were ordering from what was on the menu). Food was nothing special at all, such fish you can get at any most simple trattoria. Half of things you want to order they can’t prepare. Waiter was constantly coming to our table and hurrying us up to leave (there were people queuing for free tables). Our evening was ruined and we left extremely dissapointed. DO NOT RECOMMEND! AVOID THIS PLACE!More

This place has the atmosphere of a restaurant born in 1938 (tables have the marble), and it was necessary to book in advance as plenty. We were satisfied with the food, but it look more oriented to tourists and they compensate with the courtesy and...sympathy. They offered the digestives.More

Via Sardegna is certainly a good place to be for traditional food, well cooked and presented, accompanied by very acceptable and reasonably priced local wines. at the far end (if you are coming from Piazza Yenne) stands the traditional restaurant Trattoria Lillicu. Our waiter was...operatic in gesture and speech so much so that you expected him to turn the menu into an aria. Good entertainment but maybe at the expense of shedding light on the menu. Having said that, the food was good , the carafe of red was excellent, and the bottle of complimentary digestif was most generous. We certainly enjoyed the meal and would have returned had there not been so many other tempting places to try. As with so many restaurants around, it is better to book and even better if you have just eaten and praised the food and service; it counts for more tan the size of the bill. Very often you see locals standing outside and using all their wiles to get a table without having booked.More

We arrived just as the restaurant was due to be stopping serving food, so were pleased that they were agreeable in accommodating us (which might have been due to our son speaking to them in Italian.) They certainly didn't speak any English at this particular...restaurant, so some knowledge of the language was beneficial. The service was very swift, but although I enjoyed my 'sea snails' (tasted like winkles) starter, my main course was a seafood risotto which barely contained any of the many fish it was reputed to have, and was also overwhelmingly salty. We did enjoy the local beer (Ichnusa) and the dessert wine followed by the digestif which they were very generous with, but food wise I was very disappointed with the offerings.More
