We arrived at about 9pm and were made very welcome, the waitress went straight to fetch an English-speaker. We both had an excellent pizza and finished with a "Jefferson" : the local tipple. I suppose a 9pm start isn't late by Italian standards!

A thousand thanks
Traditional Italian cooking. Simple ingredients, packed full of flavour. Who could believe that pasta with beans could taste so good? The waiter spoke good English and was very funny! During a ten day visit, I dined here six times. (For two days, I was out...of town). Service was excellent, very reasonably priced. Menu of the day, two courses, just 15€ Highly recommended!More

This is a completely surprising superlative osteria in a relatively small side street off one of the main drags in Foggia. The place is wonderfully clean, the tables are very large, and if there is one minor nit to pick the chairs are TINY. If...you weigh more than 100 lbs you will be perched up on the edge and be VERY uncomfortable. However, the service is truly attentive, professional, and courteous, and the food is nothing short of AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!! The mixed grilled fish plate was one of the best ever! I am sure all that stuff was swimming the night before as it was almost incredibly fresh. The huge swordfish steak would have been more than enough for a dinner but add to it two large grilled squid and two of the most ENORMOUS prawns I have ever seen (they could have been small lobsters) and you get to the point where you can almost not finish it... but finish it we did! What was even more amazing was the E17 price... which would get you a crappy burger and fries elsewhere. Don't miss the dark burnt wheat bread. It looks blue but it tastes of heaven! This is a completely out of left field find. DO NOT MISS THIS PLACE!!!!!!!!!More
Me and my family were in the neighbourhood, hungry, just googled the nearest restaurant opened for lunch ... and left extremely satisfied. The place is unpretencious, sevice is correct and the food is above average, especially for the price you pay. We ate daily menu...and everything was very tasty. I love bread and when I smelled and then tried still warm bread of grano arso ... I was imediately sold. We will travel again to South Italy for sure and because of this restaurant we will deifinitely plan a stop in Foggia!More
Waiting for the bus, we just walked around a corner, entered and left extremely satisfied. Very friendly owner explained the specialities and types of dishes to us and the pizza(diavoli) was some of the tastiest I’ve had in Italy. The mixed meat platter also proved...a great choice with quality meats and flavours. 4 stars only due to it’s slightly higher price, otherwise, well worth the visit.More
Thank you very much
After a lengthy drive from the far south of Puglia, we stopped into Osteria del Grano Orso for lunch before taking our train to Rome. Since the restaurant is a short walk from the train station, we felt comfortable wheeling our luggage over to accompany...us while we ate. Although we were the only people in the place, we were warmly greeted and shown to our table, which had plenty of room for our bags. Our meal was a fine combination of antipasti, pane (bread), and tasty main courses. We'd happily go back.More
I went there for dinner and had some very good local food. The only thing I have to detract for is that there are some traffic close to the outdoor seating.
We enjoyed a delicious early supper, fantastically it opens at 6.30 which suited our British timing. The bread was home made using a special unrefined dark flour, which was also used for the pasta. The mixed hot antipasti were full of flavour, the pasta simple but so tasty and the...meat course ,accompanied by a simple tomato sauce and salad was very good. The locally produced red wine was amazingly good value for the quality. The owner and staff were friendly and keen for us to enjoy the wine and food from the region. We were so impressed we came back for a long lunch which met all our expectations. It is an unpretentious restaurant with a t.v turned on all the time but although you probably wouldn't choose it for a romantic evening it is a great place for good regional eating at a sensible price.More
Thank you very much for your fantastic review
What a find! Literally a few steps from the train station is some of the regions best dishes, at a great price, with amazing service. Wonderful!!!
We came upon this restaurant by chance. We speak very little Italian but somehow made ourselves understood. We were so very surprised with our meal. 2 glasses of red wine (delicious) + mixed salad + pizza + a seafood platter (octopus, calamari, squid etc -...so tender) + a tray of mussels Total cost €31.50 We decided to go back tonight ...... 2 glasses of red wine', a bottle of mineral water + seafood pasta for one + mixed salad + seafood platter (as per night before) Total cost €32 The owner was so friendly and tried his best to speak to two Australians!! Congratulations, well done!More
We ate here for an evening meal on a hot night. It seemed to be a popular local restaurant with an Italian menu. The waiter was very helpful given our limited Italian. The antipasto recommended was the selection of the day and included cheese, bread,...olives, salami, proscuitto, etc. A single serve was great for two. For the main we shared an excellent pizza with smoked mozzarella. It was cooked quickly with an excellent crust. The waiter recommended a very good local chardonnay. Excellent meal for under 40 euro, elsewhere similar quality would have been much more costly.More
on a very rainy evening in Foggia, a city located in northern Apuglia (the region of my ancestry) which i thought i should visit after spending a week along the Adriatic visiting 'my' hometown. per usual after departing my hotel i walked a few blocks...trying to find a nice small restaurant, i was not having much success so finally i took a side street and asked two young guys standing in front of a barber shop, if they could just point me in the right direction, instead one fellow began to walk-run in front of me, crossing streets cutting around corners (meanwhile it's like pouring now!) and i am trying to get him to turn around and apologize for getting him involved, instead we continued another few minutes until we reached the restaurant (located as it were pretty close to the main rail station) we entered, he explained our disheveled look and basically handed me over to the owner of Grano Arso who welcomed me with a big smile and gave me to choose my table, i was comforted to see two rail crews after their long daily runs chose this restaurant as their own, and the mid april visit meant that the kitchen was concentrating on us tonight, how lucky can you get.... with no clear communication (on my part) i ordered wine, salad, pasta and a wonderful prawn dish, the kind that gets you to write about them some 5 months later :) there are kitchens that exist so quietly they are only found by kismit, in this instance a family run concern, Mama who's hands i shook warmly in thankfulness stood humble, i will always remember that restaurant, and whenever i visit Foggia again i will no doubt eat a few meals at the Osteria del Grano Arso grazie tutto!! We have eaten at Osteria del Grano Arso a few times. The food is always well prepared and the staff is very friendly and helpful, and we have not had a bad suggestion yet. Considering our very poor Italian and their much better English, communication...was not a problem. We have tried their pizza (fabulous), the beef (cooked perfectly), their house antipasto (loved it), and other dishes with great wine. The owner is very gracious and friendly. Grazie to them!More
