Nice sea food. But we had a bad experience with 2 of the waiters, not nice at all although we were waiting nearly 1 hour our meals to come. There are plenty other nice places to eat in Venesia. This one does not worth its reputation.

We stumbled on here by chance and found the blend of culinary theatre and excellent food a superb end to our final day in Venice. We had both of the fixed price menus and found them to be great. The fish antipasto was delicious and the other courses were equally tasty. Staff were very helpful and friendly.

The restaurant was recommended by the hotel, it is divided in two the area like a snack bar or Tapas of local food I think it is called Chichette? The restaurant is open at set times of the day. We were offered the recommended dish of the day first! venice speciality is fish and this restaurant would cook it the... More

The bacaro is one of my favourites for cichetti in Venice, very good and tasty, provided on a constant base from the restaurant kitchen. I have also tried the restaurant, with fresh food and relaxed atmosphere. At the bacaro the place to sit down is very limited and the place, provided its quality, is always very crowdy. just few tables... More

The the entrance to the Restuarnt has a small bar area where Italian Tapas is served on stools placed in the small street. Foodies congregate out the front which really does add to the atmosphere of this place. The grilled fish plater was very fresh as was the crab pasta that my wife tucked into. Finished the night with a... More

The restaurant is extremely well placed for those looking for somewhere to eat just close enough to St Mark's Square to be convenient, but far enough away to avoid the standard tourist fare. Excellent Venetian specialities, with sensibly sized portions, served by attentive but unobtrusive staff. We ate from one of the set menus and enjoyed a leisurely, beautifully prepared... More

Perhaps the top fine dining in Venice... expensive, but worth it. Check their schedule as they are closed at times for breaks. Must make reservations.

About 18 months ago the NY Times wrote up this trattoria just off Piazza Santo Stefano near the Academia Bridge as THE place to go in Venice for meatballs. We went to this split personality place for dinner a few days ago without a reservation, but were nevertheless immediately seated on the restaurant side of the restaurant among mostly other... More

We ate here on friday night in the restaurant. Had good food as well as service. Were shown the fresh fish we could order. Menu quite varied. We thought it was reasonably priced for its proximity to St Mark's Square. The bar area is packed with locals eating chichetti, as well as spilling out onto street. This is a more... More

You may fall upon Trattoria Da Fiore restaurant in Venice with cries of delight not only is it a charming, laid-back trattoria run by a native Venetian family, it is also incredibly affordable for this high-ticket city. Near Piazza San Marco, too, so its perfect for every kind of tourist or business noshing. A small, historic, charming spot with a separate space for those who wish to just nibble cichetti and drink a glass of wine, Trattoria Da Fiore has the beamed ceilings, warm plastered walls and dark wood seating and white table linens all typical of Venetian eateries. The menu is Italian and Sergio and his two children pay particular attention to the choice of wines. The house specialty is pennette da Fiore for two with olive oil, garlic and seven seasonal vegetables, though some swear by the zuppa di pesce alla chef brimming with just about everything that swims, perhaps followed by sgroppino al limone to finish. Youll find Trattoria Da Fiore full of both tourists and locals, and something of a triumph.

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
