Amazing experience. We were looking for a nice dinner and we really enjoyed everything: the location, the concept, the service, the food… all exceeded our expectations. It really deserves the Michelin star!

For our 1-day getaway in Venice we wanted to have a ‘fancy’ dinner. A first for us. We reserved a 3-course lunch offer for two at Local. It was an unforgettable experience. The staff was soo friendly, like when I wanted a wine pairing with...my risotto and the waiter let me taste the wine. Now I’m not a wine connaisseur, so never got the whole idea of tasting a tablespoon amount of wine and staring at a label like you know what you’re doing. (Yup, that’s wine, it looks white) So I asked the opinion of the waiter and he was so adjusting and OK with it, told me about the wine and why it paired with the risotto. Nice guy who got ‘to our level’ so quickly. They had so many stories to tell about the local food and really made our day with a smile. The food itself: I can’t grasp how you can get so much flavour in a dish that’s so elegant and beautiful. We had the small starter dishes, the Goh Risotto and the dessert and we will remember their taste and mouth feel forever. It’s truly something special. Local was a great once in a lifetime all-in experience for us and at a price of 55 euros pp total (3-course lunch, wine, water, cheese) I recommend Local to all couples who want a romantic experience like this in their trip to Venice.More

This is a small and relaxed looking place for this kind of food, which we liked (not stuffy at all). You have to order a 7 course menu (or more) , but portions are conceived in a way that you can manage it all. My...husband who is more of an expert thought everything was delicious, the wine pairing brilliant. The staff is really nice too, a young and engaging, friendly team - just once they forgot to pour the wine with the according food, but the place was very busy. The only thing we did not like was the fact that instead of menus, you're presented with an ipad to browse through the dishes (or use you mobile). I think the very last thing anybody wants to do when sitting down for an expensive meal is using their devices. It felt odd, and made us feel somehow annoyed at the start. Plus the menu was difficult to navigate. I realise this may be due to hygienic concerns, but i am sure there are other ways to go about this. Apart from that as I said it was very nice!More

Delicious food, fantastic experience. Agree with previous comments that it’s Michelin’s star experience without the price tag. It’s not cheap, but it’s worth it. Don’t worry you will leave hungry, in between smaller potshots you get treats 😍 We decided not to order dessert but...received a beautiful dessert tasting plate as a treat. Also a freshly baked sprouts dough bread with homemade butter and delicious olive oil was such a treat! Everything was delicious.More

After visiting the Arsenale area, we were looking forward to having lunch at Local after reading the reviews. On entering we were the only people there, we ordered drinks whilst looking at the menu. It soon became apparent this is no ordinary place for lunch,...you have to have a 7 course meal at lunchtime, at the most ridiculous price - so we paid for the drinks and left. The guy behind the bar, not interested in us having a light lunch and walked away Obviously not impressedMore

Dear Raffaiella, Thank you very much for your review. I am sorry for the misunderstanding as we do have several options for lunch: 3 courses at the price of 38 euros (not available on weekends), a small version of the Local Tasting menu at 65...More

This is a restaurant that is good on presentation and poor on substance. Lots of sound and fury in terms of explaining the dish options, cleaning the table after every course, and generally going through the motions of a high end establishment. Not much, however,...to be said in praise of the food, which was poorly seasoned, occasionally tepid and totally lacking in taste. And the actual service left much to be desired. The sommelier was notably cool when our choice of wine apparently did not meet with his approval. Food was served up to our table even when one or other of us was not there. In short, we didn’t think this was value for money.More

There wasn’t a single thing that I could fault in this restaurant run by a young and very motivated team. The food, offered as a series of set menus ranging from two to nine courses on weekdays at lunchtime, is beautifully presented, tasty, innovative and...yet respectful of the Venetian traditions. The fish is mainly locally sourced but it is sometimes found combined with exotic ingredients such as Japanese seaweed or Asian citrus fruit. I found it incredibly light, delicate and full of flavor. The wine list is extensive and interesting, featuring also a few lesser known growers, especially from Veneto and Friuli, whose production is not large but of excellent quality. You can trust Manuel, their sommelier with a long experience in MIchelin-starred restaurants, to suggest the best wine pairing. The service was professional, attentive and very kind. I look forward to dining there again and being welcomed with a warm smile by Benedetta and all the kitchen staff led by chef Matteo Tagliapietra.More
