This is a great place to stop and have a quick breakfast of cappuccino and brioche. There is no cover charge for the use of the table. There is a large variety of brioche to choose from. The staff is very nice. Service is quick. Be a luv however and bus your own tray to the rack.

The prices are amazingly cheap but really you get what you pay for. Wine, coffee and beer cheapest in Venice. OK for a fuel stop on a busy schedule. Good place to eat on a budget.

Went here on a recommendation, as well as reading reviews. It is basically what you pay for.. Cheap and cheerful. Partner and I both had Lasagne, which was put into a microwave to be heated (to lukewarm level). Both had a bottle of fizzy, and a bread roll (very hard, as if been there a while). Wasn't bad, but wasn't... More

First, the good news: very cheap. Had pasta, roll, bottle of water, dessert for €8.80. Now the bad: by 8 p.m. they were out of all pasta options but two, pasta barely warm. Very noisy, lots of teenagers. Just okay overall.

If all you need is a quick plate of food to keep you going Brek fits the bill perfectly. It's not for a romantic night out or any special occasion - there are plenty of other places in Venice for that - but when all you need is a filling plate of pasta somewhere close to the station/Piazzale Roma then... We came twice to BREK duting our two-day stay in Venice. I highly recommend this place, they offer a very fresh and tasty sandwiches and sweets. The prices are much cheaper than in any other place and the quality of food is excellent. For a comparison, latte macchiato is €1.40 whereas in the other places it's 3 euros minium, the... More

If you have money up the wazoo, maybe you would rather have a waiter stand there and take your order. This is a self help, self service venue with a great selection of food for the price. There is the hot pasta of the day available....but there are also ready-made dishes on view. You can have water and/or wine by... More

Zero welcome, most miserable staff in the world although the guy at the till was ok and managed to say a few words. Pasta had too much oil and no salt. I hadn't finished eating yet and the cleaner came to spray the table around me!! We couldn't leave fast enough

Thank Marco D

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
