Traditional, beautiful surroundings, attentive service by Walter, - pity that the food is no more than average: the great "speciality" of Pasta with Goose comes as stuck-together-pieces of dry pasta, with a goose ragout that has little flavour. My first dish of Saor resembled some fried slices of fish served on a bed of Piccalilly, hardly a Venetian speciality. The... More

Excellent venue - must book before hand - This was genuinely one of the nicest places I've dinned in the whole time we were in Venice the price is costly but well worth it - the food amazing, the staff helpful and the setting just off the square and a cute girl beside me - what more can I ask... We had a 4 day trip and in advance booked three different places tomeat each evening. After visiting here we cancelled the other eateries for dinner. The food is beyond delicious. The service immaculate but also with charm and personality of each member of staff. If you do nothing else in Venice, book a wine tasting afternoon with Stefano, a... More

The hospitality was spot on. We immediately felt that we were welcome and going to have a great experience. The recommendations were helpful and hit the mark. The menu was broad enough to offer something for everyone while not being overwhelming. We all had the ability to taste of the local Venetian flavors. Great presentation. As other viewers have suggested,... More

I don't usually post reviews unless, after going somewhere, I feel like I could offer something helpful. I have read some of the mixed reviews and the complaints about price at Bistrot de Venise. My take? First, the food is beautiful. Second, the service is perfect. I will give an example of why I felt compelled to post this: I... More

My lady took me to this restaurant for my birthday. We actually went a day earlier than planned so we walked in with no booking. We were greeted well and after checking with management the host took us to a nice table in the back room. Service was well executed and thoughtful. We started with the seafood sampler. It was... The food we ordered was delicious but rather expensive. Seabass with steamed vegetables will cost you 35€. Nice wine list.

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the Bistrot de Venise. Beautiful dining room, attentive staff and excellent food. We selected wine pairings with the sampling menu and tasted some excellent Italian wines, learning a lot from our sommelier about where they each come from. Not a cheap meal but worth it to celebrate a special occasion.

We asked our hotel for good seafood restaurant. I think they not really listen what we want only recommend us this place. Nice place with great staff. Small place but cosy. If we not asked for seafood we been very happy with this kind of dishes. We can recommend this place but is not a seafood place.

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
