25 euro fixed lunch here was the best meal I have had in Italy (so far). Lasagna was out of this world and so was the service. There are average restaurants for more money surrounding this sleek upscale restaurant in the Londra Hotel.

It was a quiet time when we went for lunch, but the service was lovely and the room where lunch is served has a nice 1930s Italian ocean liner feeling.

Castello is the largest of the six sestieri

one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime
neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side
streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals
criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a

Restaurant Do’Leoni in Venice’s historic and delightful Hotel Londra is named for Russian composer Tchaikovsky’s – he composed part of his fourth symphony, nicknamed Do’Leoni, here. This award-winning, elegant restaurant enjoys a superb location overlooking the lagoon with a covered veranda that expands the space in warm weather. The light, bright dining room with its creamy colours reflects the chef’s philosophy of offering light, contemporary food. Attention to detail is apparent everywhere, from the eight different breads baked daily to the home made ice creams and chocolate. Menus encompass classic, traditional and seasonal dishes in modern, innovative style, like tempura prawns with couscous timbale and mango preserve followed by classic calf’s liver with polenta. Wines and cheeses are superb as is the service.
