Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

We had read it in the reviews before going and they weren’t wrong, this bar serves the best bellinis in town and they are just 6 euros. This is a great little local bar for a snack lunch or an aperitif. The guy working there was rushed off his feet but still managed it with a smile. Thank you! We appreciated the extra crisps :) and still can’t stop talking about your bellinis.

The best place to eat with locals. The service is great. Make sure to order the Spritz Select not Aperol. There is a wide choice of crustina. Ask the waiter for the dish of the day because it is homemade and simply yummy. We went there twice in 3 days. We spent roughly 25 euros each for drinks dish dessert and cafe. If you are tired of spending 50 euros a head in Trattoria for a spaghetti dish : don't hesitate and go ! A must do in Venice.

This was is a delightful wine bar that exceeded all expectations. The barman, Nicolas, was welcoming and suggested great wines that perfectly suited our taste. We were even given complimentary crisps to enjoy with our drinks. The menu offered delicious pizzas and snacks, and the prices were incredibly affordable, with glasses of wine under 5 euros. The atmosphere had a good vibe, making it worth a visit for a relaxing drink. Don't miss this hidden gem for a memorable wine bar experience.

We sat down at this rather small, very informal bar and lunch spot by chance, after a visit to the Arsenale. It is one of many bars in this area and most have a rather touristy look-and-feel. This one is different. First because there were also several locals here (who all have the same drink ie 'Select Spritz'). This is of course a good sign. Second because service is extremely relaxed. The chalkboard menu just said 'pizza' but you can ask for any topping and they seemed to have a lot (I had burrata and anchovies, my partner had mushrooms, others had seafood or artichokes). Relaxed also means slow. If you don't have at least an hour and a half to spend, even for a small bite (their cicchetti looked gorgeous) don't bother sitting down here. Third, because the pizzas we ordered were superb. They advertise that they let their pizza dough rise a long time, and you can really taste that. Different than regular pizzas, but really great, prepared with love and care. Also in this sense, you get Slow Food here. But without the high prices that usually come with this label. Next time I'm in Venice, I'm definitely coming back here for lunch.

This little bar serves excellent food and drinks. None of which come with the Venice price tag ! Staff are extremely friendly to both us tourists and to the locals that pop in for a glass of wine or a “ Select” The cicchetti is a must if you visit - all excellent but the octopus one is delicious. If back in Venice anytime in the future, it would certainly be on our list of places to go again.

We read about Al Vecio Calice and sought it out for cicchetti the first night we were in Venice. It's along the waterfront, south of San Marco so the area is less congested. It's a great value and the cicchetti were so good that we ordered enough to comprise a dinner. We left it to the server to surprise us with a few items and the smoked tuna was outstanding! I highly recommend it and will be back.

So a Saturday in March and almost all of the food outlets were closing but here we were greeted with smiles and gusto. Few drinkers remaining but a good glass of white and a great measure of local artisan Gin went down a storm as a nightcap. Wish we had visited two hours earlier when it was rocking. Definitely try it…..

10 March 2024 Stopped for a break after hours of walking beautiful Venice. The man behind the bar (wish I had gotten his name, he was very friendly) told us to pick a table and he would come out and take our order. My wife and I decided to eat and ordered a margherita pizza. He told us when we ordered that we made a good choice because the dough for the pizza had been leavened for 24 hours. Man, that was a good pizza. Light crust, and the cheese and tomato sauce were delicious.

The BEST meal we ate out of 27 meals in Italy (Florence, Venice, Milan). The cicchetti here are all made fresh and SO amazingly flavorful. Extremely affordable, I would have happily paid triple for the quality, but it was very nice to have such a delicious cheap meal. We also had the pizza margherita which was good, but in hindsight I would have ordered the rest of the cicchetti options instead.

We visited Venice a few weeks ago and due to the good reviews decided to give this restaurant a go and we were not disappointed. Sabina our waitress was lovely and gave us an amazing service. She helped to recommend dishes off the menu, along with amount that we would need. It was all really delicious, the perfect amount of food!

We went to this restaurant based on reviews. Whilst the food and service was good please note this is not a restaurant but more a bar that’s menu consists of Pizzas and appetisers. The couple who arrived just after us asked if other food was available and they were offered Lasagne. Nice Pizza reasonable prices but definitely not a restaurant if that is what you are looking for.

This was our fav spot for wine and Cicchetti. The setting is magical. People watching, sipping great wine and eating divine food on Garibaldi was amazing. Service was impeccable. The burrata with anchovies, to die for.

Past the Arsenale area, into where the locals live and eat and drink, you will find this little gem. We ended up eating and drinking here for our 4 nights in Venice. A small indoor area, with seats outside on the street. The most beautiful food and drink, and the friendliest and most helpful staff we've come across for some time. The prices are very reasonable too, for top notch fare. And to top it off, the locals are very friendly too. Seems funny watching people drink Tennants Super so far from Scotland, its an Italian thing apparently. A wonderful bar.

This looked like a nice spot, great views and an interesting menu. The ciccetti were a bit different and were all fresh and delicious. The beer and coffee were also excellent and everything was good value. We were not rushed and the service was friendly. We hope to return!

Worth the short walk away from San Marco for this tranquil and ideal spot…right by the water with a beautiful view. Staff are welcoming and helpful. Menu limited but very delicious…much better than staying in San Marco and far more authentic.

Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
