A small wine bar with crostini and panini. It really reminded us of the type of place we'd found in San Sebstian, Spain. Just about everything was €1.2, so a couple of glasses of wine and a few crostini made for a great €10 Happy Hour. We went twice as it was so terrific. We also bought 2 bottles of... More

Hard to add more than has already been said on this forum, but this place is magical. Located in a quaint area across from the Squero di San Travaso (where they repair and maintain all the gondola boats in Venice). Diverse crowd (young and old), reasonable priced drinks (3-5 Euro wine) and huge selection of appetizers (cicchetti - 1.25 Euro... More

I think as long as expectations are managed this place is pretty much perfect. Don't expect to get a seat, it's tiny so you may be standing outside, and don't expect a meal, it's a snacks only kind of place. But other than that it's great. Good value wines, tasty little snacks, friendly staff and no pretensions, great place for... More

Found this place in a search for cichetti near our hotel. It ended up being our favorite stop of it's kind in Venice, we went twice. The staff is very friendly, and the food is great! It gets crowded, as they all do around lunch time but there are plenty of options to try- you won't miss out on anything!... More

Food - Very good. We enjoyed all the small bite-sized dishes. We'd been looking forward to more hot dishes so we were slightly disappointed to find that all the dishes were cold, except the croquets. But the food was good and we did enjoy it. Service - Very good. Despite how busy the shop was, the service was not lacking.... More

Delightful small, ambient bar, very well and interestingly located. At the boatyard opposite, a gondola was being taken from the water during our second visit for maintenance (much sweat involved) as we enjoyed our wine and snacks of which there is a good, moderately priced range. Pleasant, comfortable but small interior. The canal-side wall is the main external asset.

After visiting this bar on our last visit to Venice. With good food and wine we made sure we visited again. Sat for a couple of hours drinking and snacking while watching the gondolas being cleaned. Highly recommend a visit to this must see bar.

Description
Al Squero is the only Osteria in Venice exactly in front of the Ancient Squero of San Trovaso. There is no other place where appreciating from its window the construction or restoration of original Venetian gondolas. It is a cozy and comfortable place where you can share with friends a glass of Italian wine and taste an appetizing “cicchetto” at a small price. The selection of wines you can taste or buy at Al Squero comes from small regional wine firms of Friuli, Trentino-Alto Adige and Veneto, so that it is guaranteed unique care at the quality and distinctiveness of their products.

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighbourhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighbourhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighbourhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbours exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
