We had seen this restaurant earlier in the week and decided we would visit to try some Seafood. We ordered the seafood starter to share (good job as there was plenty) prawns, squid, clams, cuttlefish etc and a plate of sardines.......along with bread rolls. I had monkfish , my husband sole meunière and we shared a bowl of frites and... More

We really enjoyed our visit. We were a large group of 10 with no reservations and they looked after us magnificently. Everyone cleared their plate.. with pizza, seafood pasta, mixed grills. All excellent. I would go back.

We stumbled upon Roberto's for lunch and were quickly impressed with the friendly staff who seated us outside. I ordered a pizza which was fantastic and can't recommend them enough. My partner had the carbonara and was equally impressed. Its only a short walk to piazza San Marco but without any of the absurd tourist prices. We will definitely return... More

The food and service were good and we would have tipped the waiter the normal 10 to 15 percent. However after our bottle of wine was opened and we were studying the menu we noticed on the bottom of the page the note that they charged couvert and service fees. This added almost R200.00 (South African currency) to our bill.... More

I am a lover of spaghetti carbonara & it was excellent here. The price was quite reasonable. I had beer, my wife had wine along with our dinners. The cost was about $65.

We were exhausted after a long walking tour and stopped here for lunch. We all chose pizza and no complaints, service was very good and the food well cooked with plenty of toppings. Daughter loved the chocolate cake she had for dessert. Drinks expensive but common for Venice. Recommended

We had dined here several years ago and experienced fun waiters, good service, good food and reasonable prices. During our latest visit, service was so-so and prices were quite a but higher, but food was still good. It's on a main tourist path, so we will probably not go back. Prefer the out-of-the-way locals places.

Our first dinner in Venice turned out to be our best. The service here was exceptional, well-paced and relaxing. We had saltiness and pasta with clams. They split both plates for us and they were both delicious. Ended the meal with Tiramisu, also delicious.

we went to this restaurant on our last trip to Venice but sadly did not live up to memories & expectations Lasagne very stodgy with little ragu, pizza lacking in both sauce & cheese service was good however, as was the starters disappointing though overall- guess you should never go back!

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
