We decided to dine here after viewing the menu, which was fairly large with many options to please everyone in the family. The location is convenient and busy, being between the way from the main train station and San Marco. The place was empty when we stumbled upon it, and that should have been our first warning! Once we sat... More

Had an amazing experience and enjoyed a delicious meal. Would recommend to anyone looking to eat authentic Italian. Would like to make a special thanks to our waiter, Sorry, for making our time worth while.

Unfortunately we allowed ourselves to be totally ripped off at this restaurant. We went in with the intention of having a quick pizza. The waiter kept offering helpful menu suggestions - all for the more expensive items and eventually we were beguiled into ordering the hake which was priced per 100 gram. When my husband asked roughly how much the... More

There is nothing wrong with this restaurant but also nothing great. It serves an alright meal and the staff are friendly enough.

The waiter suggested a local beer as per a previous reviewer, we thought we would try as was 12 euro for 750ml, at the end we had 3 beers, 2 Aperol Spritzers and 1 lemoncello, 64 euros!!! It was good beer but why does Alcohol cost so much in this city. Beer in the Supermarket was 1.19 for a bottle... More

I understand that getting lost in Venice is traditional and on the day we came across this restaurant my wife and I had most certainly done that. The weather had been hot, feet were painful and tempers were frayed - neither of us had the energy to make a decision where to eat and we were just about to give... More

We stumbled upon this place from our Airbnb down the street. Ordered the lobster pasta and it was soooo good! I highly recommend this place. Everyone in my party enjoyed their food!

We walked out from our hotel and came across this restaurant in a quaint square. The waiter was called "Sorry" he was fabulous and we had good banter with him. He knew the wine list and recommended what to eat. We had the Florentina Steak which was huge. Sorry served it to us as it was on a hot plate... More

Wait staff was somewhat rude. Kept pushing some local beer on me, which i ended up ordering not knowing it cost 15EUR. Food was ok. 5 EUR coperto charge was added to bill. When done, the bill we expected to be 30EUR turned into over 50. Their goal is not to run a good restaurant but to squeeze every penny... More

Very unassuming spot in an authentic and largely untouristed spot. We were staying in an apartment nearby. Great little square. Quiet in a summers evening. Mixed seafood antipasto and mixed seafood and vegetable were lightly crumbed and lovely and tender inside. Kids lapped up the pasta. Service was very friendly. Prices reasonable. Even allowed us to mix pasta and sauces... More

Staying in Santa Croce

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighbourhood identity.
