Terrible! Lousy server with a terrible attitude. Skip this place or be prepared for it to ruin your mood temporarily.

I'll begin by saying that I'm a waitress myself so I do understand how hard it is sometimes to be nice at all times, but this guy was unbelievable! I mean not even a hello and said to us right away "mangiare?!" (Eating) in a rude tone! We said "yes please" and he throws us the menus on the table!... More

Probably the worst Pizza I have eaten in Italy to be honest. However, it was reasonably cheap and service was efficient. It wasn't too expensive and obviously my opening statement comes with the caveat that even bad pizza in Italy usually trumps good pizza in other countries....

Where to start? Visited in early November one evening. It was raining, so we sat inside. The place was packed with tourists. When I say packed, I mean that the 12 tables were so close together that the rude waiter could not get past without bumping your table and spilling a drink. It was so small that the kitchen refrigerator... More

Called in to Solda after our hotel wanted €4 for a cup of tea. We went straight into the bar and ordered from the nice gentleman who turned out to speak better English than my Italian! My partner got her tea (€2.50) and I got a glass of prosecco (€3). We stayed for a while and watched a few locals... More

Half empty during drink time, still took 15 minutes for someone to come take our order. The waiter misheard that we wanted a glass of wine rather than a bottle and said "between four" with disgust, gave us a dismissive wave and walked to another table. Despite not trying anything we left with a sour taste in our mouths.

€26 for 2 weak gin & tonics served slowly and with a bad attitude along few a few bits of stale toast. Just insulting. Total turnoff. Would never consider going back for a meal despite it being conveniently located for us.

This restaurant was close to our hotel and we thought it would be a nice place to stop by for an ice-cream and a glass of wine. On BOTH occasions (we thought we may have caught the waiter on an off night so decided to give the restaurant a second chance) the staff were extremely rude and not welcoming at... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
