Recommended by our hotel for a place to go for seafood and the Cantinon really delivered. This is a quaint restaurant just off the main drag and right on a canal. The location is nice and easy to find. Menu was a little pricey but the food was fantastic so. Plan to stay awhile, as the service is on the... More

A restaurant recommended by the hotel and within 10-15 minute walk. Apparently a very popular restaurant, the place was hopping and keeping the servers running around. There appeared to be only one server who takes food and drink orders from every table while the others are just his helpers and not very efficient so service was a little slow. Appetizer... More

We really enjoyed our visit here for an evening meal on the last night of our stay in Venice. It wasn't cheap but the food was good and the service too, particularly for Venice ;) My main dish, the sea bass, was presented nicely in the bag it was cooked in.

The place is located in the perfect location in Venice: an old building surrounded by a great atmosphere. The menu contained a fair enough number of options from a less than know Venetian cuisine. Food took ages to come (1 hour), and the check ended up being a bit higher than expected. Good experience, though.

Great pasta. We got the last table. Lucky us. Great experience and very friendly staff. Cosy place hidden by a canal!

We found this place quite bay accident was were very lucky they could seat us. It was so good, we ate there three times in our two week vacation in Venice. Francesco and Camilla were our servers and took great care of us. The menu is in Italian and English, the wine list is very good (although the house wine... More

Recommended by our hotel (Ai Mori d'Oriente) this turned out to be an absolute gem. Located beside a small canal, one can dine inside or canal-side. We chose inside and found it bright, clean, charming and fun. Service was extremely good, our server was friendly, attentive and really helpful with the menu. We dined quite early and had a reservation,... More

My husband and I had a wonderful evening here on our last night in Venice. It was a magical ending to our stay! We dined canal side by twinkling lights at this charming restaurant that was off the beaten path and away from the crowds! Our food was absolutely delicious! I hope we have the opportunity to return someday. My... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
