The pizzas are mediocre, much better pizza can be found elsewhere in Venice, even next door. But the real drawback to this place is the horrible service. They took over 30 min just to take our order and even then were very rude about it. They can only survive because so many people don't read reviews...but if you are reading... More

Had pizza and a seafood dish, was all good but nothing special really. Service was good and the restaurant was nice and clean, the house wine was ok. Pleasant but I've been to nicer places.

Just went there for lunch on the 1st day of our weekend break. Had very nice pizza with beer. Very nice atmosphere and a great view of the street. The staff were very friendly and efficient. The food took a while to be served but to me that's a good sign that it is being freshly prepared. 2nd time we... More

We stopped by chance but it was the best decision we made! Helpful waiters, great choice and great meal! Reasonable rates, round the corner from our hotel. Delicious "dolci". Definitelly will be back with friends.

First night out. We thought we would check restaurants we saw in the day. We stubbled across this restaurant in the rain. The place was buzzing and everyone looked like they were having a good time. We took the chance and we made the right choice. Service was excellent and friendly. Food was fresh and tasty. House wine quality was... More

Me and my partner who had been very impressed with the city and people decided to stop into here to eat on our second evening. The greeting we got was cold straight when we entered but decided to stay anyway. We chose a quiet spot in the corner (much to the dislike of the waiter) purely due to the fact... More

Food was awful, really awful and service was rude. Feel ripped off for going there when there is so much amazing food in Venice! Go to Crazy Pizza instead!

We were attracted to eat here after seeing the tables of gondelieri eating their lunch as we figured this was a sign of a good place if the locals were eating there... and we were right. The pizzas and service did not disappoint, our waiter was super friendly and we would highly recommend the pizza with the grilled chicken breast.... More

Daughter and I visited for an evening meal. Short walk from our hotel (Ca' Furlan) and recommended by the hosts. Sign outside said it is the oldest pizza restaurant in Venice. Daughter had a Margarita, I had a calzone. Both good. Also had desserts, chocolate cake and tiramisu. Drinks were expensive €5 for a lemonade, but we found that this... More

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
