We were strolling in Venice and came across this restaurant. It is a small restaurant but the food was amazing and the staff very friendly. The seafood pasta is to die for. The selection is quite extensive and the food is locally made. We had a great time and will sure return. The also serve the limoncello as a courtesy... More

We had dinner in this cosy place with a good joice of italian food. The "Gran antipasto Tavernetta" was a very good selection of starters. The gnocchi and maccheroni we had was also very tasty! Unfortunately the waiter was taking very much attention to another table who's clients he obviousely knew and left us a bit aside.

probably the first warning sign for this restaurant was when we were waiting for a table and they had us wait in an area where you can see clearly into the kitchen. and we saw the chef prepare lasagna ... by microwaving it. that said, we tried anyway. we ordered the fisherman's soup, which was very very very very salty,... The place Looks reasonably acceptable from the outside, and even some Italians ate there while we were having lunch. Rather unfriendly and pushy waiter, a carelessly prepared salad, from which a fly flew directly into our faces. Moreover, they did not have tagliata, so offered T-Bone Steak instead. Only the Venetian liver I had saved the day a bit. on... More

Food was great (seafood risotto), Service was shockingly bad. I mean Fawlty Towers style. So bad it was funny and we'll probably be back. At first we thought we'd done something personally to upset the waiter but then realized he was the same with everyone. Full marks to the person sitting behind us who was brave enough to complain their... More

Went here on our first day in Venice. Nearly walked past it, as their street is covered under scaffolding and human traffic is heavy around the area. Perfectly located on the way to the Academia, the staff is very friendly and attentive. We tried their cold antipasto, which was very fresh and varied with all the good meats. Their pasta... More

I can say with complete confidence that this was one of the most disappointing restaurants I have ever been to, and undoubtedly the worst restaurant in Venice. We arrived at the restaurant and were “greeted” by a very unwelcoming, disinterested and cold host. The unpleasant greeting aside, we nonetheless decided to give the restaurant a chance anyways, as the menu... More

I always try to find the good in restaurants but this place was terrible. The waiter was jaded, disinterest and really didn't want to be there. The food is devoid of any authenticity which we had come to love on our stay in Venice. Octopus salad was poorly prepared, full of grit which led to sandy mouthfuls. The bread was... More

Honestly, the worst waiting experience of our lives. We walked past on a rainy April evening, quite early about 7pm and saw how busy it was and thought that it must be good - how wrong we were. We walked in and the waiter shouted at us to go next door. His attitude was not good and we should have... More

I never write reviews, but in this case I'll make an exception. Do not eat here!!!! Unless you want. 1 - very rude staff. 2 - dirty glasses 3 - food, menus and everything else thrown on the table. 4 - average food that you didn't even order. and last but not least being treated like this while you watch... Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
