My wife and I stumbled on the Trattoria Cea, whilst wandering the back streets of Venice looking for somewhere to have lunch - we could not have been happier with our find. Inside the place was buzzing with local workmen having lunch, outside was serene and idyllic. We opted for the 'menu del giorno' (menu of the day) - 2... More

We ate here as we were unable to locate the place we were looking for. We were shown to a table and then sat there for a good 5 minutes or so before the waiter came over with the menu's and asked us what we wanted to drink. There was only him serving out front and one person (his wife... More

First night in Venice, we were a bit tired and wanted to eat before 7 pm. This was underrated. The set meal for either 14 or 18 euros was fabulous. If you like fish get the 18 euro. My daughter got the fried combo and mine was grilled, both were excellent. If you do like fish I highly recommend the... More

We were looking for somewhere authentic to eat away from all the tourists. We turned a corner and saw Trattoria Cea. The waiter was friendly and offered the daily menu special to us. It was 3 courses for €14. The waiter tried to explain the menu to us with gestures and Italian, which they say is the mark of an... More

This one was a recommendation from a local. We were very disappointed. Service was curt and impersonal. They would only serve half of the menu (only primi, not secondi). When one of our group ordered a Spritz, we first got an espresso and then a sprite. The fish and pasta dishes were ok. But there was a "green" hamburger on... More

Popped by this trattoria while in Venice. Wanted to avoid the touristic place and related rip Offs. Spot on. Typical cuisine very very pleasant welcome and service. A great place with an excellent price/value ratio.

A small restaurant operated by husband and wife. Simple but tasty dishes on the menu and reasonable prices. Lunch for two with bottle of water and wine,2 Calmari and salsas set back only 35€ and was very tasty. Highly recommend.

Trattoria Cea is the place where locals eat lunch working their way through three courses for Euro 14. Wine is poured by the carafe, service is great, and food-value stands out. Sit outside under the small arbor for a relaxed lunch away from the crowds. Great place for lunch on the way to the Murano Island ferry service.

Found this small restaurant near another recommended place which was closed. Ended up spending about €80 dinner for 4, for antipasto, a primo, half liter of house wine and two bottles of water. I had calamari, crispy and light. My wife and daughter had a gnocchi with a crab and light cream sauce and vegetable soup for my other daughter.... More

This little tucked away trattoria was lovely for my family and I to visit for lunch (twice!). Lovely authentic Italian waiters who didn't make us feel silly for trying some Italian language out on them. Lovely atmosphere and great to enjoy a wine and authentic Italian food under the old grapevine covered courtyard - would definitely recommend!

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
