It was our last night in Venice and we happened upon this lovely little restaurant completely by chance. I have a pepper allergy and my friend who I was travelling with explained this to the staff in Italian, although we needn't have worried as they speak very good English. We decided on the tagliatelle with asparagus and it was gorgeous.... More

What a lovely atmosphere and great food, very friendly staff and a slightly different menu to experience rather than the usual Venice menu, can certainly highly recommend this restaurant!

My husband and myself have just returned from Venice after spending 6 days there. We came across this small restaurant after finding it close to our hotel. It is small with about 7/8 tables and the attention to detail is excellent. The staff were very knowledgeable about all the food they serve and the wine. It was a very pleasant... More

The authentic restaurant had great food in a lovely location but service was rude and slow. If the waiter cared more about customer service than stopping for his cigarette break this review would be very different.

We ended up having lunch in this restaurant by accident and it was great! Nice terrace near the water, delicious fresh pasta at a very reasonable price and very nice service! Can definitely recommend this place!

We had a superb lunch featuring orange/fennel salad, ravioli of the day, spaghetti alla mare, monkfish bites and mixed salad. All washed down with 2 bottles of different vino rosso and formaggio (not on the menu but worth asking for). Sat outside and had great service and welcome from Alessandro and his beautiful companion. Recommend.

A small restaurant with a very nice selection of local wines and an inventive chef. Really a culinary experience. Moderately priced and the service is great.

The food was amazing! The service was just want you want. The owner served me and when asked took the time to explain how the wine and grappa were made.

We went there as it is close to the hotel we are staying. Lunch was surprisingly good the taste of the pasta lingers on. Decided to go back for dinner the following day instead of the usual tourist restaurant around the corner. Service was very attentive. The staff (think might be the owner) recommended some specialty for the day and... More

This is where we ate our last supper in Venice, and I am so glad we did! The service is wonderful and personal, the atmosphere is lovely, and the food is excellent. They were out of my first choice (since they get seafood daily according to what has been caught, that wasn't surprising), but the swordfish I got instead was... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
