The oldest restaurant in venice! Where casanova himself dined at! The waiters were all very well dressed and polite. The service is top notch! Food is on the higher end side. We didnt order wine and the bill was already close to 100 euros. We had the best tasting squid ink risotto so far in my entire italy trip. The... More

Lovely little restaurant, great decor, fantastic food and wonderful service. We had a superb meal which wasn't cheap but was fairly priced for the quality. Can't think of anything but positives about the place.

I highly recommend this restautant for a few things, 1) Quality of Food 2) Value for money (given the freshness of the ingredients and the ambience) 3) Good Service The waiters were very well-dressed, polite and patient. They spoke fluent English and made fine recommendations of their menu. We were also given white wine (a glass) as a welcome drink.... More

2 Things: Oldest restaurant in Venice and Cassanova frequented this place back in the day. We celebrated our first wedding anniversary here and had a very memorable Dinner. Service was top notch and ambiance is very romantic. Cant wait to go back and try more from the menu!!! The only draw back is the location, its very close to the... More

A very romantic, cozy place near the fish market in Venice. Be advised to find it in daytime as you might get lost trying to locate it at night for the first time. The ambiance is elegant in an "old world" sense. The Menu classic Venetian. The cuisine offers mainly dishes in the Venetian tradition , cod fish , the... More

Sometimes when you go somewhere special, like this restaurant, you do get a rather 'starchy' service. But not at this place. The service was helpful and friendly. The food was totally amazing. I had those famous moeche soft-shelled crab with Parmesan dusted friend vegetables and my partner enjoyed his tuna steak with pistachio crust immensely. He pronounced the place the... More

This little restaurant has fantastic local dishes with excellent service. The wine was super and the service was perfect. I would recommend this to anyone who wanted to dine on great quality, traditional food.

We were recommended this restaurant by a local walking tour guide (who hated tourists!) Despite being the oldest restaurant in Venice, this place certainly doesn't feel like another tourist trap. Hidden behind the fish market, over its own individual bridge, it feels like a really special, hidden experience. The menu is smaller than some other places- but that just means... More

Drawn by the age and the history, this is a quirky place with old floors in an old building with loads of atmosphere. Amazingly relaxed too with good music. I ordered the sea bass for 2 and it was the best fish I have ever eaten. It was just delicious. The dessert menu had a few things unavailable but still... More

We have dined in many lovely places and this restaurant is among the top. I was delighted to find moeche (soft shell crabs) being served there on the night of my visit. My husband had the tuna with pistachio crust and both dishes were delicious! The history was interesting, especially about Casanova dining there. It's great to see the food... More

Staying in San Polo

Neighbourhood Profile
San Polo
The Rialto Bridge is the most famous sight along the Grand Canal in San Polo, smallest of Venice's six sestieri (districts) and by far the busiest neighbourhood. Morning Venetians arrive to peruse the markets for fish, fruit and vegetables, while shops display goods from cheese to wine to desserts. San Silvestro and Rialto Market vaporetto (water taxi) stops add to the steady stream of foot traffic. San Polo is defined by churches including Basilica dei Frari, one of the most important churches sought by art lovers.
