I'd seen that the Riviera had really good reviews on Tripadvisor so decided to book in advance before our trip to Venice. When we got there I saw that there were loads of other really nice restaurants, with great quality food, so wasn't sure if it was worth pre-booking. However, this was by far our best dining experience and a... More

Can't speak highly enough of this restaurant, fantastic food and service was second-to-none. The owner in particular really went to great lengths to ensure a very personal and friendly service. Best steak I have ever had...literally melted in your mouth. Not cheap, but you definitely get what you pay for. Cannot recommend highly enough. Many thanks

My partner booked this lovely restaurant for one of my significant birthdays. We had a fabulous meal, the staff cannot do enough and the owner was also on hand and absolutely delightful and courteous. We loved the food, wine, ambience and overall attentiveness of all the staff... I'm really not sure about the more negative reviews, maybe these reviewers ended... More

We stopped in here on our first night in Venice since we were staying nearby in the Dorsoduro and had a great meal at Riviera. The staff and owner were very gracious and treated us like royalty. We were given great suggestions on wine pairings and the like. We'd love to visit Venice again and stop in to Riviera.

Have this wonderful experience in the most wonderful restaurant in Venice! Order a table outside, look at the Canal, in the sunshine! Taste the fantastic prosecco, and of course hva the raw fish starter before a meal of fish, accompanied with a good bottle of white wine! You won`t regret! The most friendly staff, over all a perfect spot for... More

The food was bland and tasteless and too expensive. The owner was so annoying and likes to talk in really bad English. The owner actually passed wind whilst talking to us. My wife almost walked out. Stay away from this dump..................

So I “passed wind whilst talking to” you, but I had anyway the time to be “annoying”… apparently I’m a Master in Instantaneous Communication!! Well…apparently you complain because I didn’t spent enough time with you and Madame was ready to walk out looking for me?! If you wished to have a dinner with me, it would be enough to ask... More

We booked a table and got to have our dinner at a table outside, with an amazing view and atmosphere. Perfection and elegance like Michelin stars. We were taken care of by Miss Chiara and by the owner of the restaurant. She was very personable and we accepted all her suggestions (starter, main course, dessert and wine) and enjoyed them... We had a nice dinner here and the food was nice if a little quirky at times. It’s a very modern and fine dining style inside with some great art work on display. Its located in the Dorsoduro district and overlooks the waterway to the Giudecca district opposite Venice so a little away from the main can Canal area and... More

I copy/paste form our menu, the same that you had on your table or that you can actually find on the front door, or on the web: “sea-bass fillet with brussels sprouts cream, red turnip custard and Jerusalem artichokes veil“. I don’t know how, but the mix of yours lines and the description of this dish that you had on... More

Enjoyed everything about our experience here. The food was fantastic - exceptional taste, presentation, and quantity was just right. Very creative. And they did a wine pairing for us which was exceptional. The service was amazing including the owner ensuring our experience was great. Atmosphere is perfect too - quaint place overlooking the canal. Wasn't cheap, but that was our... More

I dined here a couple of evenings ago with my family. We live in Venice and know lots restaurants here, but had not been to the Riviera in many years. Our experience was excellent. The ambience is elegant yet relaxing, the service expert and attentive (starting from the owner, who personally greets each table and takes a sincere interest in... More

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighbourhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighbourhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighbourhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbours exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
