Nothing beats sitting eating fresh fish in a very simple bar whilst looking out over the giudecca water to the Zattere and the sensational architecture of Venice. Perfect place to escape crowds and stroll around - one of my must visit Venetian haunts

We knew the place already. Still very good food with fish as a starter (tuna tartar, various fresh fish). Main course we all had pasta (cuttlefish ink, pesto and squid). One Moretti beer (66cl), 2 tiramisu, one liquorice pana cotta, one chocolate mousse) 118eur for 5 (3 adults 2 teenagers) Service is good, Very well explained and detailed. Rustic place... More

Just across the Giudecca from our hotel, and worth a rough crossing on a cold, windy day, the sea bass ravioli was particularly fine. The owner is warm, charming, funny, enthusiastic and inspired.

I loved this place last two visits. The owner is friendly and although he urges you to order and spend it isn't done in a nasty way. This time ,as once before ,we arrived very late and, as before, had to settle for what was left. The disappointing difference was that when the lady forgot to bring our toasted sandwich... More

La Palanca on the Guidecca is always our first stop after we arrive in Venice. On the Guidecca waterfront, the setting is without equal and especially so if the weather is good and you can get a table outside with views to Dorsodoro opposite. The food is simple but unbeatable: my mixed fish carpaccio and sepia linguini were top class,... More

This is an unassuming looking restaurant but the food is amazing. We were lucky to enjoy some late Autumn sunshine and sat outside looking towards Zattere. The food is so fresh and delicious with local ingredients. The service is efficient and friendly.

This is what a small local restaurant should be. Wonderfully simple yet tasty dishes in a very relaxed atmosphere. They don't offer high chairs for children, but do boost the chairs with cushions. It's a friendly place.

This small restaurant was absolutely packed with locals, clearly enjoying a lunch menu. I am coeliac and need to eat gluten free. The staff were very knowledgeable and accommodating, adapting our delicious seafood starter to make it safe for me to eat. The service was super friendly, the food was all great and the price was very reasonable !

Staying in Giudecca

Neighbourhood Profile
Giudecca is a retreat for Venetians away from the crowds. Symbolically, six metal teeth represent Venice’s six sestieri (districts); the seventh, Guidecca, points away from the others – part of Dorsoduro, but separated by the Giudecca Canal. Giudecca evolved from a center of shipyards and factories to a quiet residential area with a sprinkling of restaurants and bars. The majestic harmonious Redentore church stands as thanks for delivering Venice from the plague, hosting an annual heartfelt festival.
