We went to Ae Oche as my wife is Gluten Free, and it was worth it. Amazing pizzas and pasta served by great staff. And the best thing.... ...Beer in 1 Litre glasses lol To give you an idea of cost if compared with the touristy places near San Marco you can have the same meal for about 75-80% of... More

We checked pizza and pasta. Both was good but pizza was perfect. Also the service is good, not too fast but it's acceptable. The service charge is 12% and also they charge 1.7 € per person as a tax.

Tasty big Pizzas at a cheap price ( although they do add a 12% service charge). The décor was fine, nothing special but clean and comfortable. The other diners seemed to be mostly Italians it was a bit like a o Prezzo type place.

Cool and cheap place to get pizza. A good amount of different pizzas, a wide variety of salads, nice ambiente, just a cool location.

This, and its sister restaurant the other side of the Grand Canal are great places to fill up, not glamorous or quaint but really good and very cheap. We always go there.

I was a bit sceptical at arrival. The place looked like a tourist trap, but most of the other customers were Italian. We ordered pizza, the food came after around 15 minutes. The pizza was very good! The best meal I've had so far in Venice.

This is a convenient place to get a pizza and a beverage. The list of pizza types is huge, similar to the 70+ pizzas at the similarly named, but unrelated Ae Oche in the middle of Cannareggio. Service this year was friendly and very fast. Pizzas were crisp, not oily and very satisfying. We have eaten here every year since... More

It's ironic that I had the best and worst pizza of my life in Italy. Best is in Firenze and worst being in Venezia. Believe me, when they say the worst Italian food is from here, they ain't lying. This place's pizza is drenched in oil and disgusting. It is totally a tourist trap because of its close location to... More

By no means am I an Italian food connoisseur, nonetheless I would say that I had a couple of questionable meals whilst in Venice recently. I'm pleased to say that the delicious food served to me at Ae Oche was *not* one of them. We chanced upon this place after being let down by a couple of the smaller more... More

This is the second of two reviews I forgot to post whilst on holiday but it does deserve a review as it was good value, good on gluten free (I beleive it is accredited to the Italian Coeliac Society) and tasty. The service was also good. It may be run of the mill but there is nothing wrong with that... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
