This place was amazing. The pizza was great and cooked to perfection!!They have decent portions of the toppings and the pizza is large for it's price! The customer service was divine! They were so friendly even though I did not speak Italian (other people were rude once they realized I didn't speak Italian!) The owner tried his best to converse... More

Walking around Venice, looking for somewhere to eat, can be a little daunting. Wandering around we saw this restaurant down a small side street and went to investigate. There was no one in it and the waiter rushed out to welcome us. Tentatively we went in and were ushered to a great table at the front of the restaurant and... More

Stumbled across this place about six o'clock tonight and it was empty. As we arrived so did two other tables and then it steadily filled up. We are travelling with one year old twins and were welcomed with no problem. House wine was a decent Soave. Grilled vegetables to start, followed by a nice lasagne. Others in my party had... More

We wondered upon this restaurant one night, and decided to stay for dinner. It turned out to be our best meal during our 3 days in Venice! We had seafood risotto, seafood soup, grilled chicken breast with vegetable, and Tiramisu for desert. Every dish is beautifully presented, and delicious!

We went to Antico Panificio for lunch with our kids. There was no cover other than a tiny pack of gressini each, yet we were charged 8 Euros (2 Euros each) for covert. The drinks we very overpriced, 4 Euros for a small tin of coke. The service was efficient but too pushy with the waiter over eager to sell... More

Beware of the coperto charge. The staff is unfriendly. The food is medium. Pizzas aren't made with fresh ingredients.

If you do, then this eatery is definitely for you! Everything's home made and freshly cut - don't think they even HAVE a tin opener in their kitchen! The piece de résistance definitely had to be the selection of desserts presented to us at the end of meal, which was lovingly put together and comprised mini-portions of all their desserts,... More

We found this place on our first sleepy day in Venice. Near Rialto, I was suspect it wound be so-so. Boy was I wrong!! We had the pizzas- Daniele, diavola, and pomodoro e rucola. Great service. Great pizza. You should find this place when you come for a quiet spot to enjoy some amazing pizza.

Surprised to hear people's criticisms of the service here. We have been very impressed with the server, who is charming and eager to please. The food is quite good, fresh and well made. Have eaten here twice this week and happy with the shrimp, pasta bolognese, insalata mista, panne cotta, and more. Will return again!

Staying in San Polo

Neighbourhood Profile
San Polo
The Rialto Bridge is the most famous sight along the Grand Canal in San Polo, smallest of Venice's six sestieri (districts) and by far the busiest neighbourhood. Morning Venetians arrive to peruse the markets for fish, fruit and vegetables, while shops display goods from cheese to wine to desserts. San Silvestro and Rialto Market vaporetto (water taxi) stops add to the steady stream of foot traffic. San Polo is defined by churches including Basilica dei Frari, one of the most important churches sought by art lovers.
