We really loved our experience at Ristorante Consorzio, Turin and can definitely recommend it for a lovely night out. Our welcome and the service generally were fantastic, the slightly bohemian ambience in this smallish, lively restaurant really attractive, and the food was excellent - Piemontese...dishes served with a modern twist. For the quality of the experience, we also felt that it was good value.More

One of the most impressive expressions of slow food. Quality ingredients, superb wine list and excellent service. Lunch tasting menu for 42 euros is outrageously good and just the right amount of food. Beautiful room with intimate feel and lighting by the Italian master Davide...Groppi. Wine list is perfection!More

Had dinner her with work colleagues after recommendation. We really enjoyed the taster menu with wine pairing. The restaurant is simple looking, yet the food and wine pairing very sophisticated. Bit on the pricey side but worth the money. Reservations recommend! As is the place!

Nicely decorated cosy restaurant, although it can get very loud. The food was excellent. If you are looking for a restaurant where no one disturbs you (waiters included), it's the best place to go. Poor service manners and behaviour, no interaction. "Eat, be quiet and...leave" that was our feeling expectet from us. Never again, thanks.More

Interesting menu, great wines by the glass, good music, loads of character to the place and the people and the plates. Really happy to have found it. A nice contrast to the more traditional places I tried in Turin. Unpretentious, good value, really fun.

Consorzio was a great option for an elevated but unfussy dinner in Torino. The ambiance is comfortable and actually nicer than the photos suggest. The food is a great mix of traditional and modern, and even those who don't typically love offal should give one...of their dishes here a try; it was phenomenal. Our server was attentive and helpful with menu and wine recommendations, and the natural wines we enjoyed paired perfectly.More

Excellent upscale food, and filled with what seemed to be locals. Don't let the hipster vibe of the staff put you off. Once they get rolling they're very attentive and not pushy with upsells. The food is very tasty. My son and I shared the...porterhouse which was a lot of meat, but extremely well cooked. I had a sweetbread starter that was very tasty. It's pricey, but the quality is excellent.More

The place is nice and cozy, and the food is nice (not extraordinary, but nice). What was disappointing was the very limited choice of wines by the glass. In Piedmont, there was not even ONE Nebbiolo by the glass. There were Barolo and Barbaresco, but...for the dishes I had ordered those would just be too much. Also, the waiter was not very nice when I asked him: how come there is no Nebbiolo by the glass? He answered: Barolo and Barbaresco are Nebbiolo... well, I am a professional sommelier and I perfectly know that, so please do not treat me like a dumb customer... I simply asked for a glass of Nebbiolo, because I wanted THAT and not a Barbaresco or a Barolo... If you do not have it, or you prefer to sell more expensive wines, fine. But do not treat a customer like he/she is dumb...;)More

I have never written a bad review before but had a really disappointing experience followed by aggressive waiter (very curly hair) and manager (Andrea). Booked online but there was a miscommunication with dates and we arrived a day late to the restaurant. It was for...a 30th birthday party and it was sad to have this cancelled but of course we understood they physically could not fit us in. Fine, that's life. The really painful moment, however, was realised I had already been charged 40 euros per person for the table that we missed the night before so really an extortionate amount that I have had to personally cover. I completely understand the problems restaurants have with people booking and not turning up but this was not the case for us. We were there with every intention to eat with them. Andrea and his waiter were very aggressive towards me when I asked of I could have my money back or at least some of it. This is clearly an ongoing issue they have as they had their backs up from the start. Deeply unpleasant. I really wish I had read more of the comments from other people having similar experiences with the online booking and being charged. With the risk of sounding slightly dramatic, being shouted at like this was not exactly the evening I was planning to have on my 30th and I would probably say generally these are not nice people. Natural wines are not worth this!More

We were able to book a table same day, and decided for the Tasting Menu. Best tartare among several. "Crunchy eggs" were delicious and very tasteful. The sauce with the ravioli was fantastic. Very meaty main dish. And delicious Panna cotta to finish. Wine was...really good and reasonably priced.More

We found everything to our liking at this restaurant. Staff were very helpful and friendly and food selection pleasing and there are meatless dishes for those who prefer. Good to get excellent wines available by the glass. Recommend.

We visited this restaurant on the basis of three recommendations: One from a chef in Milan, one from a good friend, and one from someone who has hosted groups in the restaurant. Our reservation was for 7:30 PM, and we had been informed when we...booked that if we were fifteen minutes late, the table would not be available, and we would be charged 40€ each. We arrived at 7:25 PM and found that the lights were off, the security grill was down, and that there was no one moving around inside. We walked down the street and waited. At 7:40 the door was opened, and the lights were turned on. Another couple entered, and we followed them in. Our table was in the back, and we asked if we could be moved to the front room, nearer the door, where there was more airflow. ‘No, that’s impossible’. Okay, we understand, you’re going to be super busy, and have planned out the room, or something, because you told us that we could only have the table for two hours. And actually, because the chairs are so uncomfortable, sitting there any longer would have been impossible. When we left at 9:30 the restaurant was not even half full. And no one said good night. Menus arrived, with grissini, and bread, but no olive oil for the bread. Perhaps the restaurant has an agreement with the dentists of Turin, because the grissini were stale and hard enough to crack tooth enamel. But okay, it was Wednesday night, and maybe they wanted to get rid of the grissini from the night before. The menu is interesting, with variations on regional Piemontese dishes. We ordered one set menu, and three à la carte dishes. I was going to order the ‘Quinto quarto’ or ‘The Fifth Quarter, offal assortment’ because I do like offal, but was put off by the waiter’s description of the dish - Cow vagina is not appealing, and generally speaking, brains are no longer a good choice to eat. The set menu came with Piemontese style steak tartar and Crunchy egg with swiss chard, fondue and bacon, Agnolotti gobbi, Ruché wine braised Piemontese beef with wholemeal polenta, and panna cotta. We also ordered the sweetbreads with a pomegranate sauce, which were very tasty, the ‘Mountain ravioli’ with mandarin pollen (starchy and under seasoned), and the hanger steak(cooked correctly but served with a side of stringy greens that were impossible to chew and swallow). The braised Ruché beef was like eating over done pot roast from a pressure cooker. The panna cotta was excellent and the coffee unexpectedly bad. The wine list was surprising, as French wines out number the Italian offerings by two to one and are overpriced. Wine advice is ‘sketchy’ at best. The service staff are of the ‘I’m so hipster because of my facial hair, and I have tattoos, so I’m way cooler than you’ll ever be especially because you’re older than my grandparents, so you don’t know anything about food’, variety. The table next to us had problems with what they were served, and, although we don’t speak Italian, the response from the waiter was fairly obviously, ‘Look, you ordered it, that’s the way we prepare it, and if you don’t like it, too bad.’ We saw them later on the metro platform, and they basically told us that their meal was ‘okay, but nothing special’. This restaurant seems to be trading on its name as part of the Slow Food movement, but that does not excuse the offhanded service nor the uneven quality of the food. The prices are high for such a badly furnished, poorly lit, and uncomfortable setting. This place is a tourist trap. It was the worst and most overpriced meal we had in Turin.More

We came here because of its high ratings in Fodor’s but that must, clearly, be out of date. First, the restaurant is dingy, dirty and dark. Although we were the first ones there, it took 10 minutes to be offered water snd even longer to...get a server. We asked about the wines and, with a roll of the eyes, she pointed to a chalkboard with a few unremarkable choices…no years or producers listed. She was unable to answer the simplest questions about the wines. No mention of a wine list. Limited menu. Had to ask for a mixed salad and got another rolling of the eyes. The salad was fine. Food was good, not great but the shabbily dressed and groomed staff plus the attitude made us want to run out. I wish we would have got up and left.More

Consorzio is a classic piemontese restaurant in the historic center of Torino. Wine selection is really really good, I had a dolcetto by Bartolo Mascarello (beautiful). The dishes are faithful contemporary interpretations of piemontese cuisine, never too daring nor boring. Absolutely recommended.
