Great pastas, fast and professional service, accepatble prices. We had carbonara spaghetti and salmon tagiatelle and both met out expwxtations. The order came very fast. If you are not looking for very sophisticated food, but regular, tasty Italian food, no need to look further.

Really nice restaurant two steps from the Duomo. Order any the risotto or the gnocchi, they're super tasty. The starters are also good, especially the bruschettas. It's pretty traditional and the clientele is local

A straight forward Milanese restaurant, try the osso bucco and saffron risotto, a regional classic. The veal of course, yellow table cloth and just basically a conveyor belt of reasonably good food.

We had eaten here a little over a year ago and had such a fantastic experience that we decided to revisit with our two friends who were traveling with us . We had a reservation for four and were actually accepted a little earlier which...was a nice since we arrived before our reservation time. . I was so surprised when the manager remembered me...and seated us at a great table. We ordered wine as we decided on our choice of food... We had a perfect beef carpaccio piled with baby arugula and shaved Parmesan and polenta with truffles and crisp fried mushrooms on top . Both were Amazing ! Next two of us had risotto with apples, chestnuts and mushrooms. One person had the osso bucco and another had the spinach ravioli. All of our dishes were superb ..our waiter was very personable and helpful both with helping us to choose a wine as well as explaining all the dishes. All in all I would highly recommend this Resturante for great ambience, wonderful service, perfect Italian food and very reasonable prices ... I have no idea why there are such previous negative reviews for this restaurant since I have had two wonderful evening meals here ....and I shall return again .More

Where do I begin? It was our last night in Milan and we made a reservation fairly last minute. Good start. The online menu was impressive and we were looking forward to some authentic Milanese cuisine. Unfortunately the food and service were terrible. I am...so disappointed. My osso buco was dry and not tender at all. It should be fall-off-the-bone tender, but instead it was hard and dry, with lots of chewy gristle. The bland sauce was lukewarm and did nothing to enhance the flavor of the meat. The risotto was equally tasteless. And they have at least 5 risotto dishes on the menu, like it is their specialty. Are you kidding me? The server was sadly uninterested in checking on us to see if everything was to our liking. Tried several times to get his attention; for 15 minutes he never even looked our way. When I finally hailed another server over, I asked her to just bring us the check and I gave her (she didnt ask) my impressions of the food. She just said "oh, ok" and took our plates away. No "I'm sorry" or "let me get the manager". She delivered the check and walked away. We paid the bill at the cash register as no one came to collect payment. The manager processed the credit card payment without saying one word. Even if he was unaware of our complaint, we didnt even get a "thank you for coming"! Seriously, I dont know where all of these good reviews come from. Maybe they have a new chef or maybe Sunday night is "reheat the leftovers" night!More

This was our introduction to Milanese cuisine during our visit. You must make reservation in advance - the restaurant is very busy. Avoid the bruschetta appetizer. The Parmesan mousse was better. This is a place to try one of the many risotto dishes on offer.

I have been going to Al Cantinone cafe-bar for the last 13 years. Please do not mistake the bar for the restaurant — both are run by the same family/establishment and are right next to each other. It is extremely sad for me to see...the negative changes in management. Cantinone opens at about 6/6.30pm for Happy Hours, i.e., Aperitivo. Two of us got there about 6.35pm and asked for a table for 4. We were asked when our friends were going to join us. Our friends were to join us at 6.45pm. What transpired in those 10 minutes was that I ordered a drink, and while we were waiting for another 7 minutes or so for our friends, the young waitress came back to us and said that we couldn’t hold a table for 4 since the other 2 of our group hadn’t arrived. We decided to leave. And as we stepped out at the dot of 6.45pm, our friends stepped in. Al Cantinone has turned into a tourist trap, that’s run badly, and by waiters who don’t know the art the hospitality. This is so hard to swallow, because, the family that runs the establishment is just lovely. Maybe they should be a bit more present during working hours so that they don’t lose old/regular customers. I’m not going to recommend this place again.More

There are lots of options in Milan for the early evening Aperitivo- an eat as you like buffet with the first drink included. Cantinone was for us convenient and a decent if not outstanding qualitybut reasonable value for Milan. Plenty of Italians here so it...must be OK or it just wouldn't survive the large number of competitors. We were only here for a couple of nights so don't have much to compare it with but the welcome was fine and the atmosphere just lively enough.More

We stopped here for lunch after visiting the Duomo on a weekday. Arrived early and got a table no problem, but the place quickly filled up. A favourite for locals and tourists alike. Fast and efficient service. Lots of Milan specialities on the menu. Reasonable...prices. Large portions. Great flavours. Highly recommend.More
