Arranged for a private cooking class with Luciano to make pesto sauce, walnut sauce, and gnocchi. Luciano was a gracious, informative, and entertaining teacher. We then had dinner there, and the food was delicious (including the foods we prepared), and the service was friendly, charming, attentive but not intrusive, and Luciano came to our table to make sure all was... The restaurant is charming, tables look lovely, waiters very helpful. But I can't help but feel that this restaurant is living off it's old glory days when Frank Sinatra and other celebrities used to eat there. It is quite expensive. The night we ate there the clientele were well heeled, quite young locals. The food was acceptable, nothing we ate... More

Amazing pasta and seafood dishes in a beautiful old fashioned setting. Pesto pasta is best of its kind

Nice dining room with interesting and engaging service but the food is pretty average. Lots of suggestions for "specialties" but none of them really impress. Initially very welcoming but the free glass of Prosecco was corked. Took a while to explain this as the whole thing is very formulaic. Ceiling is very interesting with an Olympics theme.

Recommended to us by our hotel staff and well worth a visit. The food was simply outstanding , service excellent and a great location. We will definitely return on our next visit to Genoa.

Atmosphere is a bit depressive, even at the window, with that narrow street view. Paintings of dead birds all around. Food is good but not the best. And it's really expensive. Not really recommended.

Went here based on TA comments and ratings. Nice atmosphere and good service. Wife had spaghetti bologna se and I had homade pasta with pesto. Both very good dishes, with the homade pasta being a special treat. Had tiramisu for desert, and felt it was just average. All and all, a nice meal and would return.

Wonderful ambiente (very old fashioned but just great!), nice service, Luciano Zeffirino, owner and chef de cuisine comes to your table and discuss with you about the Zeffirino family and the tradition of this Genoa Restaurant, which belongs to the culinary tradition of this city. Just great.

I'm a food lover based in Paris and until now I've been rarely disappointed with restaurant in Italy in general. First of all the food was simply not good, we had the fish dishes that were so over salted that it felt like you swallowed seawater! We had a focaccia as a starter, nothing special costed 18€, should have costed... More

The staff at Zefferino provided the best shore excursion lunch we experienced on our 14 day Mediterranean cruise. They started with a Pesto demonstration, using the most beautiful smelling basil native to their region. While we were expecting the usual average lunch, instead we were treated to a superb 3 course lunch including wine. An entree of home made pasta,... More
