Well-kept and welcoming location, friendly and helpful staff, excellent dishes in line with typical Trieste cuisine! In the event that you are unable to choose from the numerous proposals for first courses (all very good!), There is the possibility of ordering a trio, to enjoy...different combinations of flavors. The desserts are superlative: excellence in excellence.More

I arrived in this restaurant with the knowledge that it would be a nice dinner given how they described it to me but I never imagined to find myself so well. A nice surprise. As soon as my girlfriend and I arrived, our waiter made...us sit and as soon as he realized that we were English he made us feel at home speaking in English. He brought us the menu in English and explained all the highlights of the house. We followed his advice and it was a dip in a culture I had never tasted so much. We had the cheese strudel, the tasting of the first courses and fillet of beef me and venison for her .Rigo and mille as a dessert. All spatial. Even the kindness of the unique owner. We thank you for this nice experience and also the Albanian waiter 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻More

Very pleasant locale near the wharf. The ambiance is colorful and warm Service is attentive. he food and wine menus are sufficient, both carrying items from the Friuli/Venezia Giulia. The Branzino was exceptional. Value is excellent.

Came here to celebrate our 55th wedding anniversary with good friends. As usual wasn’t disappointed, food was excellent and cooked to perfection, staff were as usual very friendly. This is a lovely place very relaxed and not rushed.

We had an excellent dinner here, very substantial and delicious. The service was pretty good too, with a friendly waiter who spoke English well. Sauerkraut soup, veal shank and plum dumplings: this makes for a bit of a cultural dislocation, more Austro-Hungarian than Italian. The...Croatian wine underlines the difference. Zabaglione with peaches and an excellent grappa brought us back to more familiar territory. Altogether very enjoyable. Definitely recommended.More

This long-established restaurant is a bus-ride out of the centre of Trieste, in a residential area. But step into its ground and it feels as if you have retreated into a secluded grove. We went during the heatwave, and all the seating was al fresco,...with our table having a view of the hills around and -- if you craned your neck -- of the bay below. The owner and his staff were solicitous and helpful, happy to advise on the menu and pairings with their wines. The food would have been worth it even if we had had to reach the restaurant on foot during the heat of the day. Dish after dish combined excellent ingredients with expert cooking. Suban is proud to provide local cuisine, including the 'palacinke', the savoury pancakes which (the owner said) he had cooked when the pope visited. It is not, though, a theme-park: as well as its standards, it has a daily menu and clearly chooses the best of what is available at the market. Highlights included the antipasto of venison carpaccio and a main course of breast of fagianella (little bustard). All the food was well complemented by the wines -- Trieste has some excellent whites, but their cellar harbours a good range, and we enjoyed a Pinot Noir for Alto Adige. It was a memorable evening and Suban provides reason enough to return to the area.More

For over 50 years, Suban has been the traditional venue for special occasions, including my husband’s First Communion party, among many others. But in 2019, Suban does not disappoint, serving with flare the traditional foods of this region, with proprietor, Mario Suban, greeting each table....Presentation is lovely, service attentive, and prices reasonable. Don’t wait for a special occasion...go to Suban to eat well, and enjoy the traditional foods of Trieste! Recommended...Osso bucco, jota, goulash, and the three tasting primi!More

The beat restaurant you can come around Trieste! It is a very special meat restaurant and still Mr Suban is visiting all tables and checking the kitchen by his own. Very customer oriented and kind. You must try the degustation first plate with three specialities...of the restaurant. Also the soup is very special.More
