We were staying at the Savoia, it was raining, and I read about Mara's place! We grabbed our umbrellas, walked to locate it, walked back, then returned for lunch! Lucky us! We were able to get a table immediately and we are still talking about...the food, and lovely Mara. I wish I had taken my photo with her, as others have. Anyway, we travelled throughout Italy, driving, for one month, and this was one of the BEST meals!More

Don't expect designed ambient, long menu or fancy food. What you get is one person - Mara doing it all. You are being served as a member of the family.it Food is regional, prepared with rare honesty, nothing presumptuous but simple and fresh. The price...is very very reasonable. The colder it is outside the cosier and warmer it looks inside. Food is typical for the region and is not served in many places in Trieste. But it is delightful. Do not hesitate and try the Guancette di maiale alla birra con patate. Then...frico con patate e polenta and for sure try the Cjalsons con erbe o frant conditto con burro fuso e ricotta affumata . The desserts are irresistable.More

We had to wait a while although we had booked in advance. But the food was excellent, and the atmosphere was like it should be in a trattoria.

I was in Trieste and read this comments, so I decided to try Fricos. They are perfect. So delicious. I recommend it!!!!

Had a dinner with my wife and kids. We got there quite late and the owner was alone with a few guests. She was extremely nice and welcoming, eventhough it was evident she had a busy evening. The food was great. A taste of local...flavours in a small but warm restaurant. Will gladly return on my next trip to Trieste. Strongly recommended!More

Went to this restaurant by recommendations from a guide. We were not disappointed. The food was really good, authentic and affordable. But the best part was the employees - really friendly and accommodating. I guess this is some sort of family restaurant, and you should...really go there to try out their food.
