Cool, jazzy atmosphere at this established wine bar with great cuisine. We went as a couple for a romantic dinner - had a full meal - mainly meat based, as this is the true specialty of this place, welcomed Samuele's suggestions for the food and...Micaela's for the wine - we ended up going to the Winery the next day to purchase a box of their amazing products. Great place with personal touch, lovely tiny refuge hidden in those fascinating narrow stone alleys in the old part of Trieste... wonderful walk to san Giusto Castles after dinner - definitely a place to try! We will be back!More
A hidden jam; once inside you feel that you are in one of those places you know you will remember the rest of your life; then the menu explained by the owner with an enthusiasm that sets the bar even higher; house wine could have...been top of a normal list; bur then the dishes..... Michelin star quality, I would say just try even after having read this and with the even higher expectations! And if you think I was right, then try the desserts....More
We loved the food. She read us the menu and we picked. I’m vegetarian and I was fine but there was only one choice for each course. This didn’t matter for me because the food I had was great. It was a walk and we...were nervous when we walked in but the food was great and it was half the price we expected it to be. Perhaps it depends on what meals you choose but it worked out well for us.
Been told to add that the house wine was really good and a third of the price that was expected :)More
We were there for dinner and I recommend to make a reservation since the restaurant is not too big and pretty popular it seemed. However, there wasn‘t actually a menu, the choices of the evening have been told us at the table. It‘s authentic local...food, no allergies/whatever options, just great food. And the interior is very special, it‘s basically a history museum about freedom - as far as I understood :-) So, just go there, it‘s an experience for sure!More
Half of the things we ordered were very blunt and tasteless served with no garnish or veggies.
We ordered a risotto (based on her description) that ended up being an orzata, not pleased as if I had known I would have not ordered, chicken was...slammed on the dish with not a side or even a sauce and it was absolutely tasteless, we ordered patate in tecia and no salt even there proper tasteless, I mean only thing that was nice was the pasta but in all honesty I can make that my self at home.
I’ve been in a million restaurant and I can say this is definitely overpriced for the quality of food they serve as I could have made that 10 times better at home.
Only good thing is it’s a very nice rustic looking place but in all honestly I diddnt enjoy the experience as the waitress was not approachable, not a smile and she was looking almost hostile to me as every time we smiled or made a joke she almost looked annoyed.
Definitely not coming back.More
We loved everything about it! Finding the very small place and its door was an adventure, but easy because google maps led us right to it! We asked the very pleasant English-speaking waitress to choose courses for us to try. The favorites were requested again....From beginning to end, it was excellent. The house wine a favorite! The prices wonderful. Such a memorable occasion. I would love to go back!More
This locale was a hang out for my husband many many years ago...when he skipped school for the day! It has been transformed into a quaint restaurant with reminders on the walls of the olden days.
The food was delicious. We tasted the pumpkin ravioli...with a truffle sauce, the pumpkin flan and the cream of mushroom soup. Three excellent starters. Our second courses were filet with truffles, beef tartar and black angus hamburger. Again all cooked perfectly and very tasty. Desserts are amazing and too good to pass up.
Staff is hospitable. Table wines are good. Prices are reasonable.More
