We booked a table for 2 earlier in the day but then call to change it to 3 at 8pm. The restaurant was very kind to change it. When we arrived we were a bit surprised that no one came to welcome us at the...entrance, there were lots of people at the bar so it seemed a bit chaotic. We then got seated in a table for 6 (which was great because we wanted the space. The host seems almost too relax for a place like that, however he definitely showed us he knew what he was talking about. My partner and I got a fiorentina and when we said we wanted midium rare he looked at us in silence...The point is you do not ever ask the chef how to best cook something. My friend ordered another type of steak. We had grilled vegetables, potatoes and amazing beans! The host suggested we order the house wine, which was incredible The fiorentina was just perfect: perfectly cooked, perfect weight! I have been wanting to go to this place in a while but only this time due to current situation i have managed to find a table. I'll be going again for sure. Thank you everything was delicious and the price was absolutely not high!More

We were impressed by the review and decided to give it a go. Real disappointment. 2 hours lunch, one hour wait for the mains - half of them over cooked and one of them cold. They had a Wagyu special - probably the worst I...ate in my life. Less than average meat place, international pricesMore

This restaurant is a well hidden pearl in Trieste and frankly speaking a secret that is owed to be shared. The chef prepares wonderfully tasty meat on the open fire in the middle of the restaurant, while his lovely wife attends to the guests making...you feel welcome and cared for. Beautiful small family run business, where food is prepared with real love and passion. Every detail is meticulously thought through and the various flavors perfectly balanced. The Fiorentina steak is an absolute must-try. We will definitely be coming back! Thank you for such a great evening and delicious dinner!More

Good little restaurant on the hill above Trieste. We had selection of a pecorino cheese and prosciutto di Toscana and for secondi piatti la costata di chianina. Cheese and prosciutto where good and bistecca was excellent ,meat was good quality and very good prepared.

We visited the restaurant on the recommendation of a local that we meet at our hotel. You need a car really to find it - it is out of the way and up a steep hill - but its definitely worth making the effort. Don't...be put off by the unassuming exterior - once you are through it, the garden is delightful... and then you get to the food and the menu! Great food, beautifully cooked and presented, good value wine, great service, lovely setting - perfect, and highly recommended. We had the beef (perhaps a little rare for me!), the pork and the veal - all were delicious - and three lovely desserts too. With some side dishes, a bottle of wine and some soft drinks, we still had change from 100 euros! Don't miss out!More

Good hidden restaurant in via Bonomea, a bit outside Trieste. If you want to eat good meat in Trieste, this is one of the best choices.

The restaurant is up hill of Trieste, a car is advisable to get there but nice and authentic ambience with a cute terrace to have dinner during a summer night. Concerning the food, we never tried Toscane food before and we wanted to tried. Hum......Kind of a fail for us... If you like red meat with nothing else than salt at the Chief convenience then go for it! ( our bad we didn't look at the pictures of the restaurant before going...) my husband is turning non red-meat eater and I am not a huge fan.. Anyway... We ordered risotto than for me wasn't enough tasty and ask for pepper which I didn't get because the Chief wasn't ok to add pepper to his risotto made with his heart.. Then ok.. But not at my taste. Fired vegetables, too salty.. Nevertheless, food seems fresh and of good quality.More

A must for anyone wanting great Tuscan food in a quaint restaurant with terrific service. We visited the last night of our 2 week trip. We had an amazing bottle of Movia Cabernet Sauvignon. My son had the stuffed pork chop, my daughter had the...pasta with wild boar sauce, and I the beef with mushroom sauce. All was amazing. The night ended with a yummy meringue ice cream dessert. It was a great ending to a great trip. Will definitely be back and would recommend highly!More

If you want to eat typical tuscan food in Trieste area, Al Toscano is THE place. It is located on a steep road connecting Opčine and Trst. The easiest way to get there is going down from Obelisco, against all signs. Tuscan antipasti with sheep...cheese, salamini, papa al pomodoro, florentine steak, risotto with asparagi... everything is excellent. And again, it's better to listen what the offer than to read the menue. Wine list includes some fine Supertuscans but also moderate priced Nobile and Brunello. Leave some place for chocolate cake or tuscan version of crema catalana.More
