Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I was in Ravenna for the first time and tried Ca' de Ven for dinner after a recommendation from my hotel's desk staff. I didn't reserve but got there when they opened at 6:30 on a Thursday night and was seated. The food was delicious,...it's a warm and comfortable environment, and the service was very good. I walked by again on Friday evening at 7 and it was packed so in general, reserve here in advance. I'd love to eat here again.More

The atmosphere is great...long tables...wine barrels overhead...lost of people, seemingly all local...veteran waitstaff...delicious, hearty home cooking...a place that just seems to welcome you in...excellent wines, too. Had a great dinner in all respects.

This place had been recommended by a friend in Florence. Unfortunately when we called, thee were no dinner reservations available for the 2 nights I was in Ravenna. So I decided to stop by at lunch for a piadina and a glass of wine. I...sat outside as there was a very long line of people waiting to be seated in the restaurant. I had the daily special piadina, with potatoes and pumpkin and it was delicious and was too much for me ti eat it all. The glass of red was lovely and the wait person actually poured me a taste to try. Decent prices. If I'm ever back, I'be sure to book in advance.More

Didn't have the chance to try anything in this restaurant as the staff were rude, unwilling to answer any questions and just ignored customers. The person who looked like was in charge couldn't care less to serve or help any customers who were waiting for...tables. Just terrible. No point to ruin your holiday when there are other good restaurants around.More

Dinner was so very ordinary. Boring salad, deep fried veal like you'd get at a bad pub. Over priced, too big and just plain boring, uninspiring food. Go elsewhere.

Wonderful old building - constructed in 1542. We were a party of four about to start a cycling holiday across Emilia-Romagna and arrived tired. The welcome was lovely, and the waiter who looked after us throughout the meal was terrific. The food was amazing -...terrific range of antipasti - two different pasta dishes - two different excellent main dishes with potato and salad, one Italian sausage and the other chicken - and no less than three glorious desserts. We drank a lovely Riesling (only 17 Euros a bottle). The elderly lady who owns the restaurant made a point of coming to talk to us twice, and was delightfully friendly. Altogether a fabulous experience. If you come to Ravenna, you absolutely must come here. Do not miss this restaurant - it is astonishingly good.More

After a great tour of Ravenna's stunning mosaics, we needed a place for lunch to refuel. We were told that Ca de Ven had the best Piadina in town, and it did not disappoint! The Piadina with Squacquerone cheese, Prosciutto and arugula was delicious. Service...was very friendly, prices reasonable, and the building was beautiful, full of character and atmosphere. I wish I could go back and try more things on their menu.More

We had no plans for lunch after seeing the murals in Ravenna. Our guide recommended this place. Lots of diners on a Saturday for lunch - but they got us in. Friendly staff, great food.

This place is just great. Unassuming from the outside, the inside is cavernous and full of life. The food was amazing, best we've had in Italy so far. They accommodated us despite not having a reservation. Pork knuckle better than all the pork knuckles I've...had in Germany, or anywhere. Going again today :).More

We turned up here without areservation for lunch on a wet Tuesday in January. I think there was a misunderstanding. We wanted to eat in the resaturant but were out in the central seated area and told we could only have piadina. The waitress was...very nice and the restaurant had only a few tables occupied. It was shame. We decided we didn’t much care for piadina, stodgy and dry although I am sure these were perfectly good of their typeMore

We revisited Ca' de Ven after a gap of 9 years and it is still as excellent as ever. Ravenna has definitely changed with a more youthful atmosphere, however we loved the new vibe and excitement in the city. Our rabbit and chicken with roast...potatoes was lovely, washed down with a local red wine. Prices were still very reasonable.More

The restaurant has a great ambiance that made us want to go in. It's large and packed with tourists and locals. The food is good local, not fancy. Servings are very large. I had a mixed grill and could barely finish it. We decided to...skip dessert and go to specialty shop outsideMore
