Our guide took us to this Parma institution. I am amazed it's number 1 on Tripadvisor for Parma, but then it's because it's quirky and exceedingly local - and delicious. The place was packed with locals - wall to wall and outside. Our local guide dove straight in and got us all some horse tartare (amazingly and surprisingly good -... More

Putting things into perspective, it was a fine place for a sandwich, but no where near the level of this being the "very best restaurant" in a city with so many truly noteworthy dishes and restaurants. We happened to just miss 3PM, and maybe it being Saturday they did not reopen at 4PM as advertised. Good value like a food... More

these are the best sandwiches I've ever seen anywhere. The restaurant is family run by several generations, it's generally bustling in there but the atmosphere is still welcoming and friendly. I would definitely return if I ever go back to Parma.

This place is incredible!! The sandwiches are just out of this world, I wish I could go everyday. The queue was really long, and we couldn't really understand it at all, but it all added to the fun! We also ordered a glass of red and a beer as everyone else seemed to, and then we ate in on the... More

It isn't really a restaurant--it's a simple sandwich shop. Very little room to stay in to eat it so, if it's a nice day, get your freshly made sandwich and sit outside somewhere.

Very peculiar place , but it is an icon of the town ... funny service, you can eat your sandwiches standing outside or inside sometimes in a crowded place. But great sandwiches..

The local doesn't look like the fancy one but the food is really, really good. The various "paninos" they serve are incredibles and originals. There are also other typical products which are wonderful as well!

I added Pepen to my travel itinerary thanks to the great reviews it had on TA, but to my surprise found out it wasn't your typical sit-down restaurant... It's more akin to a $1/slice NYC pizza joint but with amazing Italian sandwiches crammed with great meats instead. > walk in > order (they speak english) > try and get one... More

No idea what I ordered but it was great!! Counter staff were friendly and spoke English. My only regret is being too full to try the rest of the menu
