Hands down, the best meal ever eaten in Italy over many years. This is a tiny restaurant with one woman serving and a genius guy cooking everything to order by himself in the kitchen. Started with culatello and Parmesan cheese board with torta fritta. Delicious....Next was the pasta with Felino (local) salami and leeks. This was nothing short of sublime. The main dish was guanciale (pork cheek) stewed in a wine sauce, which had cooked so long it was practically in shreds and was also, sublime. The grilled veggies were yummy, too. A classic desert of tiramisù ended the meal. If I could have gone back there to eat the exact same meal again, I would have. Put this at the very top of your list on ParmaMore

Enjoyed an outstanding lunch at Antica Osteria della Ghiaia. Started with two antipasti dishes: a wonderful salad consisting of thinly sliced fennel and sweet blood oranges, the “tagliere” plate consisting of a selection of local salumi, cipolline onions, and a fried bread that was heavenly....Next, we enjoyed two primi piatti: the anolini soup (the local version of tortellini in brodo) and a generous portion of risotto with asparagus and crispy guanciale. Excellent food, good service and reasonable prices. Can’t ask for anything more.More

Intimate, cosy and with excellent service and food, Antica osteria della ghiaia was a great discovery for me. The place has been there for long but with different management and chef, and the current outfit is truly good. The torta fritta with wholemeal flour was...a pleasure, accompanied with the usual great cold cuts from Parma. Pasta and meat dishes well prepared and with a personal touch, starting from the local tradition but not sticking to it. Very polite service and correct prices. Recommended.More

Food to die for. The platters, pasta and meat were amazingly good. Service by the 2 ladies was excellent and the room is tastefully decorated. Will come back for sure

Small restaurant near the mercato in Parma centro. Staff very helpful and great. Prices reasonable. Reservation is a must. Highly recommend parma ham parmigiano- reggiano cheese both aged to perfection, pasta with ragu and risotto with fungi. Dolce - pannacotta and tiramisu were wonderful.

Unplanned visit to Parma and found this place from other reviews. Food and drinks choices are excellent. Would recommend the Lambrusco Frizzante (chilled slightly fizzy red wine). Not too pricey either :)

We started with an antipasto which we split. A plate of pear and peccorino with honey and walnuts. My wife had a primo piatto of gnocchi with pomodoro & shaved parmesan. I had tagliolini. Along with a half litre of vino & frizzante, only 50...euro. A nice atmosphere and friendly service.More

While it was hot, the setting was peaceful and comfortable. More importantly, the food was fantastic. Osteria della Ghiaia is a wonderful place to experience the typical dishes of Parma, complete with my favorite gnocco fritto of the trip.
