We popped in a year before and on visiting the area again I spent half an hour on foot using a mobile sat nav to find my way back again. The quality of food was to the same high standard as before and in actual...fact could be said to be a bit higher. The lady in charge remembered us immediately from the year before and guided us to the same table we enjoyed in the quiet square outside. (Do I look so obviously British?) We tried the local pasta Gramigna with sausage ragu and followed with a heart steak washed down with Lambrusco. Amazing as always. Counting down the days till we are back next year.More

Nice, friendly service. Tasty food. Meals from Euro10-20, dinner for 4 adults with one main course each and wine was Euro75. Tucked out of the way a bit, so it is quiet. Reserve a table to ensure you get a seat. It gets busy from...8pm onwards.More

Good quality food, specially the tigella and gnocco plate and the great ravioli alla zucca. Service is a bit too "relaxed" but if you have time to wait you won't notice it.

Nice place to take the typical tigelle and gnoco frito modenese. Good lambrusco. Nice place for groups. Be careful with gnoco frito for dinner! Good service and it is not expensive

I was recommended this place and was super pleased about it! I met some friends over from New Zealand and we had a great lunch, food was absolutely amazing and portions are very big!

Had a big Irish gang for dinner as a pre-wedding meal. It was fantastic. My Italian relations planned a set menu of anti-pasta, pasta and vegetables with bread and of course good wine. Four of the company are coeliac's and were catered for with risotto...which was superb. The food was wonderful, simple but freshly made, tasty and served with pleasure to a big hungry crowd. Thank you so much.More

This is probably my favourite ever restaurant anywhere. The food is fantastic, in particular the Risotto Di Balsamico. The staff have perfect English and they recommend the local dishes which are fantastic.

This little restaurant is a germ in the centre of Modena. We wanted a quick lunch and asked a local lady for a recommendation and was advised that this is the place for the modenese cuisine. We had a simple ragu tagliattelle, half a litre...of house red, some water and bread and it worked out at EUR 20 for two - perfect. The taste of pasta was wonderful and we could not get enough of it. Lady serving us was very friendly and helpful. If we ever go back to Modena, we will eat there again.More

Located in the heart of Modena, in a very quainter small piazza which was formerly a small garden,Trattoria del Giardinetto is an excellent restaurant for an evening of good food, fun and leisure. The superior quality of this restaurant food is rooted to the traditional...recipes of the "cucina Modenese" and its prevailing ingredients of pork and chicken. The dishes are simple and traditionally oriented to what was the traditional meal in the farmhouses which are abundant in the area. The meals are accompanied by a good selection of wines, mainly Sangiovese which is gaining more and more statue in the world of good wines. for the first time visitor I recommend the "Gnocco and Gele" which constitutes meal of its own. "Gnocco" is a traditional flatt and thing bread that is fried and expand in the shape of a "gnocco", the "Gele" are a type of flat bread baked in a special iron similarly to a panckake. The size of the "gele" is the one of a silver dollar. With the gnocco's and the gele's comes a rich plate of cold cuts from the rich selection of the local production, prosciutto, culatello, salame, mortadella, etc. All this are to be used and stuffer for one gnocco which will be eaten as a "panino." With this comes also a dish of "Pollo alla Cacciatora" (Chicken in a vegetable stew) truly superior. Of course serving of "bocconcini di grana" (small bites of Parmesan cheese) with the balsamico are adding to the whole experience. The food is truly superior and the leisure environment ( which include an outdoor seating in the "piazza) make the whole experience one never to forget, Modena and Italy! If you have any room left try the desserts. I recommend the "zabaione." Do not count the calorie or you will not enjoy it! Top all this with a good glass of Sangiovese, and at the end an espresso. The Trattoria del Giardinetto is truly a unique and rare experience to flavor the goodness of this cuity rich culinary qualities.More

We came from Argentina willing to enjoy the Italian pasta, and we were advised to go to Trattoria Il Giardineto: it was the perfect choice for different types of Italian pasta, now it's my turn to advise this trattoria!
