Located within walking distance from beautiful Piazza Santo Stefano, l'Antica Osteria de' Coltelli da Biagio is a family run small restaurant where you can taste genuine food in a friendly atmosphere. Chef Matteo will treat you with an excellent selection of different dishes, including fresh home-made pasta with several types of sauce, beef or pork main courses and delicious desserts. A small glass of traditional licorice flavored liquor will be the perfect way to cap off a lovely dinner.

Initially we wanted to only take first courses but then the smell of the meat was too inviting and we also took a cut

Fantastic food, both dinner and dessert tasted lovely. The restaurant is authentic and pleasant and there is a good atmosphere. The staff are fantastic and make you feel welcome. It was such a good experience that we came back the very next day. And I want to go back and eat there again :)

If you are looking for a fancy place that caters to tourists - don't come here.
But, if you want to go to a small family-run restaurant with really good traditional food and a warm (but largely non-English speaking) host - This is a great choice. We lived around the corner from this restaurant for 4 months. Unfortunately it took us a while to finally eat there. Once we did we were hooked. We had dinner there something like a half dozen times during our stay in Bologna. Having dinner here is one of the things we miss most about the city. The food was always well good and the wine delicious.
If there is a special on the menu - go for it! Particularly the Lasagna. And, if you have a few Italian words that you can use, make sure to ask the owner about the old pictures of his family that are scattered around the restaurant.

I book on a Friday evening to have dinner with the family, I book for 8pm, but I arrive for 7.30pm, in addition to us there is a table for 10 and one for 2, I order bucatini with bacon and pecorino, there is no bacon , no bucatini, I turn to tortelloni with gorgonzola and walnuts, not bad I must say. My wife takes tortellini in broth, a dish arrives with radioactive green broth, tasteless vegetable broth, rubbish! For the second course we order 2 fillets with green pepper, but nothing, the table of 10 had ordered fillets on a go-go basis, so at 7.45pm on Friday they ran out of fillets available! note that on the paper as second courses they have fillets or cut! I forgot! when ordering I take a Calabrian red from Librandi, obviously finished. While they are cooking the cuts, the smoke and the smell spreads through the room as if they didn't have a hood! Fog in the Po Valley! Tourist trap absolutely to be avoided!

Not going to win any awards but worth a stop. Very friendly service (although practice your Italian!). Great mixed anti pasti starter with particularly good pecorino. Both fresh pasta dishes - mine with tomato and basil sauce, my wife’s with nuts and cream - were very good. And washed down with a v good bottle of local DOC sangiovase. And only €50 for 3 courses for 2 and a bottle of wine. Recommend.

We chose this as it was so close to our apartment, certainly a bit out of the centre, but a great choice for authentic and delicious food. We shared antipasto-local meats and cheeses well presented and tasty. Our fresh pasta dishes were perfectly cooked - one dish featuring ricotta and sage butter the other was triangles stuffed with eggplant and a fresh tomato sauce. The side of hot greens made it. A simple light meal in very pleasant surroundings and friendly service. To be recommended.

Filled with locals. A wonderful traditional family owned osteria. Everything from the pasta to deserts are homemade. Our waiter recommended traditional Bologna dishes of tagliatelle ragu and ricotta tortellini with asparagus and prosciutto. He also recommended a bottle of local Bologna Sangiovese which was superb. We couldn’t leave without trying the tiramisu made with mascarpone......bellísima.
All the staff were very friendly.
Highly recommend.

So, staying in this little "via" during my vacation with my son, I noticed that there was a small Osteria right across the street from our apt! Only opened for dinner we decided to come back earlier from centro to give it a try!
All I can say is that we really love the place! Starting with the atmosphere, so cozy and charming! Great people and delicious pasta! Going back for sure!

This was the real deal. Minimal English spoken here, but friendly staff and great local food. We started with a wonderful antipasto - freshly assembled right in front of us - with a delicious selection of meats/cheeses/olives/sundried tomatoes.
