We'd eaten here for lunch three years ago and wanted to see if it was as good as we remembered - it was! We stuck with the classic pasta dishes and were lucky enough to get mascarpone for dessert! Reservations highly recommended.

It is a small restaurant and always busy so i strongly recommend to make a reservation before going. As a starter we ordered Parma ham with goat cheese and caprino cheese in a creamy sauce with porcini. Both were delicious . Our wine was the restaurant owners' own product named Conde. We ordered a sangiovese merlot riserva which was a... More

We chose this restaurant for our first night dinner on our Bologna weekend as it was a very short walk from our hotel (San Mamola). We made an excellent choice! Al Sangiovese is a restaurant serving traditional Bologna menu all served with a smile from the hosts. We enjoyed the mixed starter, followed by the scallopino with asparagus and fillet... More

I have been to Italy more times than I can remember and have been taken to several wonderful restaurants by the locals. This one was off the charts!! Genuine Italian food, great taste and great wines recommended by the hosts. Unforgettable!! Almost rolled back to the hotel.

Wonderful place to eat, off the beaten track a bit but only a 5 min walk from inner town. Hubbie had for once booked this! It was a lovely restaurant with a traditional feel to it...I had the lasagne starter which was fantastic, hubbie had the mushrooms and goat's cheese which he said was also good. I went on to... Went here twice during our time and both times it was sold out so be sure to book. Food is top class and the place has a relaxed atmosphere with it being family owned/run. The risotto was probably the best Ive ever tasted, so rich and flavorsome. Great local restaurant and a must visit for anyone in Bologna.

This restaurants was just steps away from our hotel and they also recommended it. The owners were very welcoming and the menu extensive. The pasta was lovely as were the meat dishes. We spent €120 for a three course meal for three, which included a lovely bottle of red. Definitely worth a visit.

Arrive into Bologna late in the day and moved in to our place and were hungry. Fortunately Al Sangiovese was at the end of our block which was a terrific find. Great family restaurant, homey, wonderful staff and the food was way beyond expectations. Bill was moderate too. Would like to come back for dinner!

Our daughter recommended this restaurant which is 20 mins walk from Piazza Maggiore. The food was excellent and the owners very attentive and eager to recommend their dishes. You have to make a reservation as many were turned away during our visit. Also very reasonably priced👍🏻
