This restaurant was recommended on Facebook so I was unsure of what to expect They do not have a menu as they will tell you what there is to order on the day, I knew at this point we were in for something special Before...your meal arrives you will be given some starters, omg I would have been happy to have just this, the onions in balsamic had me weak at the knees. The food to follow was just amazing please make sure you bring your appetite. The lasagna with potato and mushroom was delicious and the pork and potato devine If you are after something special in bologna you have to go thereMore

Dined again at this wonderful osteria in central Bologna. The food is amazing, excellent wine list, great friendly attentive service, interesting eclectic decor - what more can one ask in a restaurant. Tonight, had an amazing first course of crispy tortellini on a bed of...parmigiana souffle garnished with toasted prosciutto and truffles - simply superb. For second course, one of the signature dishes of this restaurant: Porchetta; beyond belief good. Excellen Nebbiolo for wine and an amazing dessert. This restaurant is too good to miss if you are anywhere near Bologna.More

Visited for two days in a row for lunch once ordering a sea food course second day went for bologna style. Gamberi risotto is just great and the light fish dish (served in a bag like cover) very tasty. Next day I went for the...veal with wine and tagliatelle al ragu both delicious. Let yourself go to Antonio’s recommendation you will not regret it! Wine selection is broad, the owner is very correct and trustworthy so maybe the previous experience relayed was just a one off. I said local wine got a new bottle, opened just for me, drank two glasses and charged 14€ only, My whole lunch was 40€ which is quite reasonable. Must visit.More

Much to my chagrin I do not think I will ever return. While I will be the first to say this restaurant was rated in my top fifteen globally as ones I recommend to everyone I meet in business. I travel extensively and love great...food and great dining experiences. Two years ago I took a group of several staff and clients to this restaurant for what had always been a wonderful nite. We began the meal and I ordered a very nice bottle of wine. As many have pointed out the wine is always delivered to the table open which is totally insane when you are buying wine in the +100.00 euro range. When the wine arrived it wasn’t the $120 dollar Antinori Tignanello, instead it was an open bottle of the +260 Antinori Solaia. I immediately stopped the waiter and pointed out the mistake, he assured me he hadn’t made a mistake and that this was the right wine. I asked him the price and he confirmed 120. I told an associate who is fluent in Italian to go to the owner as I knew the waiter was making a huge mistake. The owner became furious with the waiter and feeling bad I said we’d keep the wrong wine if they would just charge us cost on it instead of full markup. The owner said he do even better and apologized. Dinner was amazing as was the wine. Then the bill comes and there’s no adjustment. But the owner brings me a bottle of wine and says it’s of the same level as the one we had paid full price for and he was giving it to me as a gift. Knowing wines extremely well my heart sank. I knew he was pulling a fast one and I had loved this place for over ten years. Once we left we looked up the no name grocery store wine and my fears were confirmed. It was a 9 euro bottle of cheap wine. My colleague called them back and told them what we’d found and we were told to return on our next visit and all would be made right. Well we did return two nights ago and nothing was done to make amends and knowing that our patronage was valueless to this establishment we cancelled our second reservation for later that week and rather returned to our new favorite restaurant in Bologna, Ristorante Da Cesari. Sadly I will never return here nor can I recommend it even though the food is very good.More

We went to this restaurant because of the good recommendations but we were disappointed. It started good with some nice pastas, but the mains were disappointing and the desserts were bad: apparently just taken out from the fridge.

I have been coming to Antica Osteria Romagnola for over 20 years, and it seems that with every visit the food gets more and more refined, the cooking more precise and the presentation more beautiful. This time, everything was delicious, first to last. You begin...with an amazing array of antipasti—fresh ricotta, mortadella, chickpeas with rosemary, roasted cherry tomatoes with thyme, sweet and sour onions, etc. For primi we decided to try two pastas—tagliatelle al ragu, and gramigna with a sausage sauce—both portions divided and served beautifully to each of us. For mains we had an amazing rabbit dish and guinea fowl wrapped in bacon on a bread sauce, with a most delicious onion, apple and cherry tomato confit. By dessert time we were really quite full, so just shared a single salted caramel panna cotta—again, first rate. The bill, with wine and water, came to €100, which I thought was a very fair price. There is no written menu, but the charming owner, Antonio, recites from a long list of meat and fish options, and is happy to repeat if you have trouble deciding. A trip to Bologna is never complete without a meal at Antica Osteria Romagnola.More

Very traditional and cosy 'osteria' with very good service, fantastic food. We enjoyed the anipasti, which have been totally different of what you normally get. Primi piatti (tortelloni and lasagne) tasted excellent and secondo piatti (coniglio) was a real surprise! Such a good rabbit... wow!...Congrats to the kitchen. ...alla prossima volta!!!More

Definitely an experience, very friendly English speaking waiting staff, we went for all four courses - antipasto, pasta, secondi and desert. The suckling pig for two was incredible but suggest you go hungry to this restaurant if you do all the courses. My pasta dish...was noodles with broad beans, peas and cream and tasted delicious.More

Nice place with a vintage atmosphere that is not created artificially. A bit cold, I almost put my coat back, and chairs are quite uncomfortable. The menu is quite extensive and includes traditional bolognese dishes but also fish based choices. The service is good. However...the bill was quite disappointing. 25 euro for an entree that is fine but nothing special are unjustifiable. There are other restaurants in Bologna where you can eat well for much less.More

Ok, it was inexpensive- just under 100€ for 2. It was strange, followed by bad food. The service was ok. The person initially waiting on us - he appeared to be in charge (Owner?) gave us the menu verbally in heavily accented English. No prices...mentioned. OK, we can live with that. He then followed quickly with recommending a local wine (a Sangiovese as it turned out). Best way I can describe is to imagine kook-aide with alcohol. We sent it back and asked for a wine list. The recommended bottle was the cheapest on the list (15€) and he was pushing it at everyone in the place who wasn’t Italian. Hard to grasp the logic there. Our second bottle, a Merlot, was 30€ And much better. Both came to the table already opened. Yeah, a first for me after years of fine dining. One first course included lasagna and it was passable. The other was spaghetti with clams that had an overpowering fish smell and taste. Bad, really bad. Mains were sea bass, which was mediocre and lamb shank. If the Shank were any tougher you could have driven nails with it. The table knife required a lot of work to cut through the thick crust and get at anything worthy of being consumed. We declined desert so no happy ending. Really disappointing as this was Trip Advisor’s third highest rated “fine dining” restaurant in Bologna. Not sure who would rate this place better than one star, but they are way wrong.More
