Luxurious restaurant; one of our most delightful places.
About
One of the best restaurants in Rome, if not in Italy, La Pergola is much more than just a famous menu. Its three-Michelin stars - the only Rome restaurant to be accorded such an honour - attest to the excellence of its cuisine. A wine cellar with over 53,000 bottles, a water menu with 29 choices, olive oils and vintage balsamic vinegars from the best producers in Italy, and the finest ingredients to be sourced in the Mediterranean -- all attest to the pursuit of culinary excellence. In the last decade the major Italian gastronomic guides such as L'Espresso, Gambero Rosso, Bibenda have consistently voted La Pergola the "Best Restaurant of Rome" and one of the best in Italy. I am very well travelled and have been lucky to dine in some of the world top establishments and I reassure you that this is on top of my list and a benchmark of everything I would expect from a 3 start Michelin restaurant. It's...consistent quality and attention details never fails to impress me and I always end up leaving with a wow factor wanting me to come back. This was my second time dinning here in 4 years, and they managed to accommodate us at the very short notice. I refused to leave Rome without dining here, it almost became like a visit to a colosseum for me. I think the biggest differentiator is that you get all the best qualities of the Michelin start restaurants while dinning in a relaxed atmosphere with nobody constantly looking over your shoulder or stiffness, but always there then you need them. This is a very difficult thing to master. You feel relaxed and can genuinely enjoy the experience while feeling that the service is truly genuine and sincere; none of the pretentious and fake smiles feeling. I am not an easy customer to please with high standards but the team managed to take care of every single detail. For example we by mistake ordered a wrong wine, when it was opened we saw it was red which we can't drink. This was an expensive wine but they smoothly changed it to a white wine without charge or even a comment, we did not get a chance to raise our eyebrows even if it was our mistake. The food was an experience to remember and I appreciated the traditional twist. It was that perfect line between the creativity and sophistication. We spoke to the Chef who came to check on us at our table, I could see how much dedication and discipline goes to maintain this level of standard. Chef gave us his business card and invited us to his restaurant in Dubai where he was visiting in September (I live in Dubai). Also we got some recommendations for other restaurants to try in Rome which are the hidden gems, and Le Pergola team offered to make the reservations for us! There were a lot of other special moments that I can talk about however to conclude on this line this place brings warm memories and a smile on my face. It is beyond what money can buy, it is an experience.More

Great location away from the town center but easy to reach ! Top floor with terrace at the Waldorf cavialleri hôtel (which is certainly the best value hotel in Roma .) A simple but beautiful !elegant restaurant lounge and nice decor , with an amazing...view .nothing posh ! Good service , exceptional wines lists with a very expert sommelier Prices are high but you have a very unique selection not to be seen often .. The food , well , not very creative for a 3 stars very simple but well prepared No Whao effect ! (Pastas are the best in Roma ) Prices may be expensive but if you look at the full advantages there : it’s fine ! Of course it’s not the Mirazur in menton or Carlo Cracco but it’s relaxing , simple and good so why not ! You ll feel good after !More

Would have rated 1/5, the second star is for the view. Food was 1 star level, some dishes not even 1 star. Service was old school, stiff and unfriendly. Wines massively overpriced. Sommelier unmotivated.

It could have been 5 stars, but there was a situation that made me very frustrated. The restaurant is very formal and my husband was wearing a jacket while I was wearing a dress. At some point during our dinner my husband started feeling too...warm so he took off his jacket and was wearing a button shirt. In about 5 minutes he was asked to put jacket back on because it’s a “dress code”. So he did put it back on and they turned up A/C. Because I was wearing a dress with open shoulders I started getting cold pretty quickly. It was frustrating that now I had to put a jacket on top of my dress so that I can comfortably eat my dinner. In about 15 minutes manager came and said that my husband can take off his jacket if he wanted to, but the damage was done. I do not know who sets the policies, and I saw that the manager was feeling nervous and tried to handle the situation the best he could. So this message is for the person who sets those policies… if your guests are feeling too warm please allow them not to suffer and take off their jacket so that they can eat dinner comfortably. It will help to avoid awkward situations for your staff and frustrations for your guests. I have been to over 30 Michelin Restaurants and never had this types of problems. Speaking of food it was amazing and worth coming back. Our server was also very attentive and caring. Thank you!More

My wife and I dined at La Pergola 17 years ago on our previous trip to Italy and it was the best meal we ever had. When we returned to Rome we were blessed to get a reservation (after being on the waitlist). La Pergola...always lives up to expectations. The service is impeccable, the view unmatched, the food exquisite. Thank you Simone for taking such good care of us. We hope to see you again when we next return.More

We have dined here before and it just keeps getting better... if that's possible. After almost 3 weeks in Italy dining at some wonderful Michelin restaurants and some great "down home" places we love to go, our final night before departure was a dining highlight....The food at La Pergola is simply the best. Everything is an adventure in flavor and art: exquisite presentations only rivaled by the taste. All inventive and yet familiar and approachable. We settled on the 7 ( vs 10) course tasting because we knew all the extras would just keep on coming during the meal and afterwards for dessert--and they did, including the warm fennel bread. Everything was delicious and the signature pasta, Fagottelli, is other wordly: unique noodles that melt in your mouth. The water menu is a wonderful idea and the wine books (both Italian and non-Italian) are incredible and about as extensive as anywhere with reasonable prices if you don't want to spend a lot. The friendly service staff and maitre d work like a fine oiled (olive, of course) machine. No snobbery here and they make you feel comfortable and at home.. We had the pleasure of meeting Chef Beck, who was gracious and friendly, allowing a short photo session with him which was special. Dining on the gorgeous rooftop patio overlooking Rome was an added bonus. Make sure you make a reservation several months in advance since they are always booked. No doubt, we will be back hopefully next year.More

This is a well deserved 3 Michelin stars restaurant. Excellent food and service. Probably the best view of Rome while you dine. Expensive, luxurious, enjoyable. Recommended!

It would be best to call the restaurant. Sometimes a tasting is already set in place in terms of the selection and you can’t deviate.
