I like this place very much. It's always delicious. I chuckled when I read a review about the old man sexually harassing the guests. I find the old flirtatious mean part of the charm. His sweet face and genuine interest makes this place endearing. The food is good, not too salty like I'm finding more in Rome.

The best meal we had in Rome last weekend, last Friday to be exact, was at Da Bucatino. The carciofi (artichokes) as recommended by the waiter were perfect. The 'coda' (ox-tail stewed in tomato was perfect). Their pastas, all of them (there were four of us), were absolutely wonderful. The veal liver wasn't to the taste of one in our... More

We appeared to be the only tourists in the restaurant when we were there. They have an excellent antipasto bar, and we had wonderful pasta dishes.

I cant understand the rating. We had dinner yesterday in this place, misguided by tripadvisor reviews. The staff was very rude, the food was not even OK. There was a hair sitting on the mozzarella in our starter. The pizza was terrible and the pasta was hard and greasy. Definitely not recommended. Giving 2/5 in fairness just because tripadvisor has... Went there with a friend, we're both women, mid 20's, both slim, both speak italian (She lives in Rome and I used to live here, so we're both used to the italian way of lifr and dining out) and we were definately appropiately dressed for dining at a restaurant. We were served by a 70+yrs waiter who first put his... More

Da Bucatino is probably one of the best places to eat traditional Italian food. We had our best fettuccini of our lives. Apart from fettuccini the lamp chops, starters and tiramisu were perfect as well.

Bucatino was a recommendation from my friend's friend, who grew up in Rome and it lived up to every expectation and more! The prosciutto and buffalo mozzarella appetizer was amazing. I got the spaghetti al ametricana. When I saw my friend's cannolini I was jealous, but my pasta ended up to be the most amazing bowl of spaghetti I've ever... More

This was an accidental find; Sunday lunch with the most delicious roast lamb, pork and beef on the menu as well as many other traditional Italian delights. Great service and good value.

Staying in Testaccio

Neighbourhood Profile
Put the house music on replay and you have Testaccio, an ancient Roman port and former working class neighbourhood where the bass is set to high almost every night of the week. Its collection of discoteche (nightclubs), street parties, and crowded restaurants give it its well-deserved party reputation. During the daytime, Testaccio is more easy listening than club hit, the area is full of locally owned small businesses and has one of the city's larger produce markets.
