We came to this restaurant based on a recommendation. The restaurant is small and bookings are essential. We had to wait two days for a table but it was well worth it. Family style, truly authentic restaurant about as far removed from a "tourist trap" as it comes. I don't imagine there is a single item on the menu which... More

This restaurant involves all that is wonderful about Italian restaurants .... fabulous food and wine, such charming, friendly and welcoming owners/staff .... and just so chilled!!! The restaurant is only about 10 minutes from the Termini so no excuse not to go wherever you are staying in Rome .... BUT YOU MUST BOOK!!

Two generations of the Camerucci family offer visitors to this small cozy restaurant right by the Piazza Vittorio Emanuele II the cuisine of the Marche region. Try a sheep cheese seasoned in a special pit (pecerino di fossa), dishes with porcini mushrooms and truffles, swordfish or goose. Home cooking does not disappoint you.

Great service, amiable staff, very tasty food. Also very fairly priced. Maybe for dinner it is advisable to book to get a table. Everything I ate was full of flavor: the bacalla fish with a pleasant saltiness ( I can literally taste the savor of the sea) accompanied perfectly with silky potatoes, lamb rolls stuffed with spinach and cheese with... This trattoria is real gem. We had lunch here twice, and each one was excellent. The owner is delightful, speaks very good English and made great wine recommendations (reasonably priced). Kitchen turns out amazing food at very reasonable prices. Highly recommend.

We enjoyed a wonderful lunch with delicious food and great service. Reservations recommended. The staff were incredibly helpful in wine pairing with their delicious food. First class everything at a reasonable price. The lasagna was delicious. The cappuccino ice cream desert was a treat. Feels like a family operated restaurant with deserved pride.

The decor is nice, the service average, my duck was dry and overcooked. The prices aren't ridiculous, so no big deal. If we weren't staying right around the corner, I would have been irritated to have made the journey. Overall: underwhelming.

The waiters were very kind and welcoming and even helped us speak Italian with them. The more sophisticated/inventive food was a great break from the traditional Roman cuisine that seems to be in every other restaurant in the city. You got the sense that this was a place for locals as there were a few Italian families celebrating birthdays and... More

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
