It is not terrible but the restaura is over rated by TripAdvisor users. Guess the owner has a lot of friends and cousins. The trattoria is located in a poor and badly maintained street. The outside look is very poor. We've been invited in a room very dark without windows and dusty. The toilets are awful, similar to Italian public... More

Very cosy and friendly atmosphere. Doesn't look like Much from the outside but the food and the Staf is very very good. I hade Spagetthi fruti di mare (seafood) and it was simply amazing. The price is more Than reasonable We Will come here again next time in Rome.

Had a wonderful meal. The salads were fresh, the main courses were full of taste and were large portions. Comfort food in a casual home-like atmosphere. We will be back!

We had dinner with our Airbnb host and her partner who are both locals because they highly recommended this place. It's a cosy and local hideaway, and if you don't have a reservation, be prepared to stand in queue. When we were there for dinner it was a super busy and the wait staff seem a bit overwhelmed. They were... More

I recently visited this restaurant with work colleagues whilst away on a work trip, and I was celebrating my birthday. The evening was amazing - the food, ambiance and service was very traditional and ensured we all had a fabulous evening. I have since recommended this restaurant to another friend who has informed me she had a fantastic evening here... More

Well OK, maybe to call this place little might be a bit deceiving. We were lucky enough to get a table in the beautiful and cosy front area, but the back dining room is three times the size, if not more. And maybe calling it local isn't telling the whole story either, as there were plenty of tourists here too.... More

The restaurant is authentic and very Italian .. Bruscheta, pizza AND tiramisu were so good. We were 5 persons and non of us left a bit in the plates. I already recommended the place to at least 3 persons. It is sure that I will go back as soon as i return to Rome.

I was on my own and had a very warm welcome. Great place with tables set with traditional "red square" towels. What to say about the food? Delightful, respectful of tradition and served in generous portions. I hope I have new opportunities to dine here. A must if you are in the neighbourhood.

Whilst I would not describe it as a family restaurant we were made to feel very welcome with two young children. Traditional trattoria, lively atmosphere and good food. Would recommend this restaurant.

"La Fraschetta" di via San Francesco a Ripa è caratteristico, intimo e grazioso; propone un servizio cordiale e brillante, candidandosi senza difficoltà sia come ideale rifugio per una coppia in cerca di riservatezza sia per cene di lavoro e ritrovi amicali in una cornice neorustica e famigliare. La cucina, tendenzialmente vincolata alla nostra adorabile tradizione romana, spazia, con stile, dalla coda alla vaccinara agli spaghetti alla carbonara. Dolci sempre fatti in casa. Molto buona la carta dei vini; non mancano bianco e rosso della casa. Il locale è stato inaugurato nel 1976: lo staff proviene dalle esperienze di Ciceruacchio e Meo Patacca.

Staying in Trastevere

Neighbourhood Profile
Trastevere ("beyond the Tiber") is like a faded postcard, a little worn around the edges but still charming. With its wide-open piazzas, meandering streets, weathered Renaissance buildings, and overgrown personality, it's become an irresistible mecca for visitors. Trastevere is an enclave of entertainment - a rotating set of street performers entertains almost every night, and unforgettable eateries and bars pepper its piazzas and side streets. For a trip to the past, visit the southern and western flanks of Trastevere for pockets of yesteryear, less traversed areas with a residual 1960s and 70s Roman vibe.
