Roscioli is mainly about the quality of the products. It is in fact a deli and wine store with a restaurant added, or better squeezed into them. We had a table in the deli section, and this means you are sitting by the counter and...can see all the goodies, but of course there is not much room and people walk by all the time. The usual expert recommendation is to focus on the starters and pasta, while skipping the mains and desserts. I will definitely agree with the first part and the selection is huge, so you would need at least a few visits to try a substantial part of what’s on the menu. As to the pasta, we had the carbonara and while it was good, I cannot say it opened a new world of carbonara experience for me. I am pretty sure it was not the best I had ever had or even very close to that. I cannot comment on the mains because we did not have any, but I am glad we decided to try the desserts. My milefoglie with pistachio crème was quite excellent and other options sounded extremely appealing as well. There is a substantial wine list and with this type of food wine is practically a necessary component of the meal. Service was polite and efficient.More

The service was good but chaotic , due to shortage of staff , meanwhile the food was average yet not disappointing , but overall it doesn’t live up to the expectations , I’d say it qualifies better as a cafe with good food than a...restaurant with high end oneMore

Interesting, to see so many harshly critical reviews recently. We had an enjoyable dinner here four nights ago. Yes, the prices are steep and the portions are not the largest. But it is a brilliant use of all the very fine products and wine available...through the salumeria. The breads, too, are first rate. Perhaps the most expensive wines may be a stretch for some fairly simple presentations-but if it is in your budget, go for it. Or look carefully, and you will find others that are still quite pleasing. But, realistically, don't expect humble trattoria carafes. The wait staff is courteous and hard working. Sure, many tourists are attracted here, but plenty of savvy Romans too. You are not here for the atmosphere, ambiance, etc but for the access to some products that would be hard to find anywhere else in Rome. Caveat emptor. But with open eyes, it can still be a satisfying venue.More

SO DISAPPOINTING! we have booked in advance, waiting for this dinner that should have been one of the best during our Rome stay. BUT, as big as our expectations, is our disappointment. Our table was small, very close to others, so we felt like a...big family dinner...(and our table was one of the best..). After a deep reading of the 19 (!) menu pages, and advising with our apathetic waiter, we took two 1st courses, 2 main, battle of the house wine and dessert. The food was low to mediocre quality, and OVER PRICED for this level of food, service & ambiance. DON'T FALL INTO THIS (SMART) TOURIST'S TRAP!More

This place was not as good as it is hyped up to be. Our waitress was very nice and we really liked the wine and appetizers were good to. Unfortunately our pasta came cold which is unacceptable. Manager never came or cared to apologize only...our waitress. Antihero waiter who brought it to us also did not say anything and dropped off the reheated pasta on our table. Overall disappointed anniversary dinner. Manager should have come and taken something off the bill but she did not bother, they get business so don’t care about each customer.More

We were very disappointed. Lack of taste, and too expensive for what we ordered. Slow service at early dinner time. I think it must have been good before it became very popular, cause a friend recommended it to us that he had visited it in...the past. I wouldn’t recommend it.More

A bit disappointing after all the hype and reviews. Pasta was average at best and lacked flavor. Charged 4 euros for the bread. We would not come back.

My wife and I visited this restaurant for lunch today based on recommendations from friends. The restaurant layout was a bit tight but they go above and beyond to make you feel as clean and safe as possible. I appreciated that. Everyone from the wait...staff to the hostess was friendly and helpful. Our waiter recommended a whiskey for me and a wine for my wife. Do yourself a favor and order the Burrata with sun-dried tomatoes as an appetizer. It was delicious and the tomatoes were some of the best I have ever had. The pasta dishes were great as well. Just make sure you make a reservation.More

During a wonderful week in Rome, Roscioli was the most expensive restaurant we visited and also the most average. Overall there appeared a lack of attention to detail; overcooked lamb, undercooked artichokes and a plate of gnocchi for €15 euros that was just…a plate of...gnocchi. A Norwegian couple on an adjacent table said they visited 2 years ago and it was much better and it seemed the restaurant was happy to rest on rapidly fading laurels. Where is seemed standards were once high they have slipped a bit and it was noticeable. We had some excellent meals in Rome but we left Roscioli feeling unfulfilled.More

Four of us had a farewell to Italy lunch here, and it was fabulous. The menu is ridiculously huge, and it took us forever to decide. But that was ok as the restaurant has two lunch seatings and they were slammed, so service would've been...sluggish anyway. Everything was fantastic, but I can't recall all that we ordered and ate. The wine, however, was a wonderful Barbaresco with a little bit of age, and only 65 euro per bottle. That's a bit hefty for wine in Italy, but not for a fine Barbaresco at a popular restaurant in Rome. So to celebrate, we had two. Bottles that is, and our last lunch in Italy was a memory to savor.More

I prezzi sono medi ma dipende da ciò che mangi e bevi. Puoi pagare poco o tanto, dipende anche dal vino che bevi. Se bevi una bottiglia di Brunello o un calice alla mescita. Va bene per tutte le tasche

Also does anyone know where the next best place to sit is if you can’t get up stairs further back the restaurant?
