We have eaten at this restaurant several times and will return. La Fraschetta has a wide range of very good dishes, and each that we have enjoyed has been delicious. Their appetizers are excellent and their Jerusalem artichokes are among the best we have tasted. Prices are very reasonable. Most of the clientele are local, which says much about how... More

Cuisine and service ok. Waitress available to our requests. The food is very tasty. We got the starter with cheese and confitures and then meet as main course. Good experience. Don't miss it.

We went to La Fraschetta di Mastro Giorgio for dinner together with a group of friends, all foreigners, who occasionally meet up in Rome. We had been to the restaurant a few years ago and remembered it for its good food - unfortunately something has changed! The service was unfriendly to say the least, most of the dishes on the... I experienced the first bad meal in Roma in over 15 years of dining out The choice was severely limited... From the menu, there was No fish, no preferred pasta, no 1st and 2nd Choice in wine, and the only veg they had was broccoletti... Which was cooked to mush! The bistecca at 18 Euros was fatty gristly and tasteless... More

By chance we stopped at this restaurant. We ate a little of everything. The courses were all excellent. Kind and helpful waiters, characteristic and welcoming location. Cheap prices. I suggest this restaurant to all the tourists who don't want to be enchanted by reputable places where, you don't eat so well and spend a lot of money. I will be... More

We had dinner here with friends from Rome. They have great specialties from this area. We had cured pork, fresh homemade large tortellini pasta with spinach, marinated artichokes and local fresh cheese selection. Service was excellent, friendly and helpful. Good Job!

Dinner for 6. We shared the starters: the fried zokini was nice, you can skip the cheese plate and the ham plate. Fried piza was interesting. Shared main courses:we had 3 types of pasta (carbonera, pork and spinetch) relatively spicy. Interesting pie of notela and pairs, and had great wine. Over all 150 euro for 6 people, 5 starters, 5... Interesting food, very professional service (although maybe a little on the curt side), and all at a price that surprised us by ending up so reasonable. The fried potatoes were possibly the best thing I have ever eaten in my entire life!

The best food we had in Rome - it was all good, but their fried potatoes were a revelation. And as far as value for money was concerned, it was also very good indeed.

Description
The "Fraschetta di Mastro Giorgio", located in the historic Testaccio neighborhood, aims at combining quality and honest prices within plain but well-kept premises. The ingredients used in the kitchen and at the grocery counter, which are always fresh and in season, are selected with care and expertise and are the basis in providing authentic and wholesome dishes. All the products we use are first quality, starting from the organic extra virgin olive oil VIOLA, passing to our home-made pasta, the free-range meat selection, the handmade cold cuts and cheese, the pastry confection with CAVAZZA jams and, last but not least, the hand-crafted SAN BIAGIO beer, which is bottle-brewed. The products processing takes place in the fully equipped kitchen, using modern and functional tools in keeping with the HACCP regulations.

Neighbourhood Profile
Testaccio
Put the house music on replay and you have Testaccio, an ancient Roman port and former working class neighbourhood where the bass is set to high almost every night of the week. Its collection of discoteche (nightclubs), street parties, and crowded restaurants give it its well-deserved party reputation. During the daytime, Testaccio is more easy listening than club hit, the area is full of locally owned small businesses and has one of the city's larger produce markets.
