This little bar in the center that tram 8 passes going to Piazza Venezia has the best italian version of a pastrami sandwich. It’s the closest you’ll get in Rome to the authentic one and is delicious!

Very nice coffee and some nice pastries for breakfast. Eat at the counter to save money. We stopped here after the Colosseum before moving on to the historical centre.
This insignificant-looking café is well worth stopping at. It is really good value, the coffee and cakes are excellent and the staff are very friendly. Even the loo makes for an interesting visit, down the stairs into the subterranean vault!
