In short my recomendation is that you should avoid the place. Food quality was a little below average, but this was not the main problem. The reason why the whole experience was terrible, was that the place's manager made it absolutelly clear, from start to the finish that we was not welcome. When we arrived we was completally ignored for... More

It was one of the most disappointing dinner I had in Italy anywhere and I spent years here. It stared by trying to get a table. The owner simply ignored us and gave the tables to Italians who arrived later. (they did not have a booking either ) We asked if it is possible to book a table so we... More

Traditional Roman trattoria. Open for lunch and dinner, but closed in the afternoons and on Sundays. Family run, home made everything. The menu was hard to understand as it had four languages interpreting each item, which looked like it was xeroxed on a 1958 mimeograph machine. Yes. It was that hard to read. Pasta was cooked perfectly al dente. Seafood... More

Landed in Rome and this restaurant was the first one i ate at. I am very happy that I did. The food served was amazing and tasted so good. I almost cried when i ate the Carbonara because it was better than my brother's and he does a really good carbonara. However, the quality of the food served here really... More

Came for dinner. Very busy so one must wait. Sadly the salt cod was not available but the tripe was. Very tasty. Noticed local came and all of them had a set menu. Menu of the day. It's at a table near their counter. So I took artichokes also which were good. Eat some of this local cuisine. Pasta can... More

I stopped here after getting into Rome because of a recommendation from a friend. It's right around the corner from the termini station and serves authentic, homemade pasta dishes. My boyfriend and I tried the Cacio e Pepe and the pasta all gricia. Delicious! Definitely a great spot to stop in Rome.

It has been a long time since I was first here and it hasn't changed. Mamma is still in the kitchen and the food is just as good. In fact so good I went twice! Don't come here if you're in a rush, just sit back and enjoy the food, the atmosphere and the wine. It is a bit like... More

We just returned from dinner tonight. The food was home cooked and so tasty. The house wine was 6 euro a litre .The teramasu was to die for and plenty of local families had dinner while we were there. We were not rushed .This is definitely a gem .

The service in this place was the worse I have ever encountered, there was maybe half a dozen customers in and we waited 20 minutes before we even got a menu. The staff were rude and clearly had no time for those that were not locals. The food was ok but nothing special, whole evening ruined by visiting this place... More

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
