My brother discovered this restaurant during one of his many trips to Rome and when we went to Rome with him, he instead that we go with him to eat at this restaurant. He said it was very Roman in its menu and favored by locals. Wow, was he ever right. During out two weeks there, we went at least... More

We come from Malta and we love good food and to fill our bellys! This little gen is absolutely amazing! The freshness, taste ... it's all just amazing! The decor is nothing flash very old school Italian little restaurant but that's what makes the experience even better! Will definitely be back again when we r back in Rome!

This is a nice little spot on a small side street in the San Giovanni area. It's small and seemed like mostly locals on their lunch break. I saw lots of tempting dishes on the tables around me - fried calamari, mussels, etc. I had an excellent eggplant parmigiana, and a very good tiramisu. Very reasonable prices.

I first went here about 6 or 7 years ago on the recommendation of a local. He lived in the area and said that he had eaten everywhere within a 10 block area and it was the best. We went and it was very good. Returned this week and the place had not changed. Friendly service, a nice menu and... More

Called and made a reservation for a party of eight and arrived in plenty of time .The food we had was very tasty but there were not enough staff on which meant that service was rather slow and it tended to leave us feeling that we should have tried somewhere else. The dishes themselves were very tasty course but the time... My partner and I came here from a recommendation from our hotel - the staff here are fantastic, really welcoming. I had the pollo alla Romana and it was delicious - very authentic, simple food. We had bread and oils to start with, two main courses, a bottle of white wine, a bottle of water, two desserts (a pastry and... More

Wonderful Italian food at a very popular spot. Very reasonably priced and if you aren't sure as to what to order ask the waiter for his recommendation.

Did not regret stumbling across this place. Cozy atmosphere and pretty good food. Service was excellent. Especially liked the seafood risotto.

I can't get over how simple and delicious the food was here. The place was recommended by our Airbnb host, as we asked him for a place where the locals eat, a place he would go if he wanted to grab a bite. It was also close to where we were staying. The portions were very generous, the food was... More

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
