Unless you are 'in the know' finding a good restaurant in Rome these days is a minefield. There is an awful amount of poor quality tourist-orientated food particularly around the big monuments. Naumachia, which is very close to the Colosseum is a delightful exception. There is a staple menu which is supplemented each day by 'specials'. The food is of... More

This was a great restaurant find just steps from the Colosseum. The staff was attentive without hovering and very friendly. We had ricotta fritti, bruschetta, three different pizzas, fettuccine with sausage, and the lasagna. The Chantilly cream with chocolate sauce dessert was divine as was the tiramisu and chocolate mousse. Make sure you have a few glasses of wine with... More

Nice staff, fast service for food, but quite slow service for anything after your main has been served. Food quality was pretty average for Rome, but that is still quite good! Overall a very nice place to have a quick lunch stop.

We visited after reading the reviews and as it was a 5min walk from our hotel (Mercure Collosseum), and were not disappointed. An extremely busy place with small and large groups, and also young families. The food was great, and my 6yr old fussy eater son ate the lot and proclaimed it was the 'best pasta ever!' . We had... Took and horse and carriage to this place as further away from Coliseum and was recommended as a good place. Easy food for 4 with wine was 50€. Perfect. Good service too.

I can't speak highly enough of Naumachia, and the fact that we ate there on 5 occasions during our 6 day stay says everything! And we definitely were not the only repeat visitors during that time. First of all, the food is fabulous ... home cooked, authentic and generous portions. The service is friendly and familiar, the prices very reasonable.... More

We enjoyed the food here so much we went back for more. The artichokes were divine, the home made pasta a generous and tasty serving, the pizza cooked as it should be.... crisp base, minimum ingredients, quality taste. We recommend this to anyone seeking a great meal at an excellent price. Close to the Colosseum but with a real local... More

Down the street from the forum and colosseum, we went to have our last supper before leaving Rome. Great place to finish off especially with Luzzi at the opposite end of the block. Very busy and filled with Italian speaking families, the service was quick, friendly and efficient. The appetizers were good but the caprese had lots of bufalo cheese... More
